SSX - Timed Trials

ssx I subscribed to PlayStation Plus not too long ago and got access to a bunch of free games. But not only do you get access to free games every month, there are also games listed under Timed Trials. You essentially get one hour to try a game. If you liked the game and decide to buy it, your progress from the timed trial will carry over.

In the first episode of Timed Trials, I check out the newest iteration of SSX. Formerly known as "SSX: Deadly Descents". I haven't played a SSX game since SSX Tricky. I did play the demo of this game before it came out and liked it. Let's see if it still holds up.

I uploaded it to Dailymotion this time because of Youtube's copyright claiming system and this game contains a lot of licensed songs from various artists.

Tons of Pre-Order Deals happening in Datablitz

Mass Effect 3 pre order deals I visited my favorite local gaming store which is Datablitz and noticed they have new pre-orders for us Filipino gamers. We can now pre-order our copy of Mass Effect 3, Syndicate, SSX, Sims 3: Showtime, FIFA Street, UFC Undisputed 3, and Asura's Wrath.

Thankfully, all EA games do come out on the said release date here in the Philippines. How I wish that would be the case for all games coming our way, but it's better than nothing I guess.

One of their latest pre-orders is for Mass Effect 3. Pre-order the game with Datablitz and you get the N7 galactic warfare and the M55 Carbine Rifle. The  image above says Rafle, but I'm pretty sure it's a typo and should be Rifle.

Pre-order with them to earn two guns? Not the biggest incentive out there but if you want to go ahead and secure your copy, here's your chance.

Asura's Wrath, Capcom's over the top action game about defying the gods, will also get the pre-order treatment at Datablitz. Pre-ordering the game will earn packs including certain modes that will help you in the game.  Depending on the platform you prefer, determines the bonus you earn for pre-ordering the game.

For the Playstation 3:

Devastator Pack - Includes Guardian Mode which reduces damage and Iconoclast Mode which fills your unlimited gauge faster.

For the Xbox 360:

Infinity Pack - Includes Extinguisher Mode which allows for quicker cooling and recovery after overheating, and Zealot Mode which provides an extended unlimited function

UFC Undisputed Datablitz preorder

If your hyped for the third game of UFC Undisputed, pre-orders are also available.  Place your pre-order and you earn:

  • Exclusive Ultimate Fights: Knockout Pack
  • Early Access Pass
  • Contendes Fighter Pack
  • Ultimate Knockout Artist Boost Pack

Datablitz hasn't given information on the pre-order contents of the other games(Syndicate, SSX, etc), but it's good to know the option is up.

E3 2011: SSX is back!

"It's tricky to rock a rhymeTo rock a rhyme that's right on time It's tricky, it's tricky tricky, tricky tricky"

One my favorite extreme sports games is back and it's looking incredible! EA Sports is bringing back SSX. With a grittier look compared to the upbeat and brightly colored SSX games in the past, I am liking the art style.

Now SSX purists might not be so hot about the new look but never fear, the game still retains the over-the-top arcadey feel in the tricks. A mode called Trick It will require you to perform insane air stunts to earn points. Pulling off huge tricks and landing them will cause a shockwave on the scenery that help you get bigger air. Oh and the Tricky meter is back.

The other two game modes are Race It and Survive It. Race It is pretty obvious as it's your standard racing game mode. Survive It sounds a little more interesting. The trailer that was shown at this year's E3 showed two riders outrunning an avalanche. After a big leap of the edge of the mountain and all hope seemed lost for the riders. One of them launches a cable and latches onto a helicopter while the other transforms their suit into a flying suit and glided across the air.

From the flying squirrel suit, this is probably the same game as the SSX: Deadly Descent game that EA teased us about last year.

How can you not get excited about this game?

EA is all about their games and I thank them for sticking with that. They were straight to the point and didn't do any useless stun to get you excited(If you've watched the Ubisoft Press Conference, you know what i mean). Starting off their Press Con with Mass Effect 3 and ending it with Battlefield 3, a lot of strong games as usual was shown by EA.
