Ubisoft confirms a new Assassin's Creed for 2012

Assassin's Creed01

After the release of Assassin's Creed 2 back in 2009, Ubisoft has been releasing a new Assasin's Creed title each year. With Assassin's Creed:Revelations coming out soon, Ubisoft confirms that they will indeed release yet another one for 2012.

This is no surprise. The bigger question is if  their rushing this franchise out the door. Usually when a great game developer creates an amazing game, they aim higher for the sequel, this is not the case for Assassin's Creed after the second game. This franchise seems that they're fine going sideways - progress in the story but have small changes to the game.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed the next Assassin's Creed for 2012 during the company's earning call. "There will be another great, full-fledged Assassin’s Creed title next year," he said. "It will be a major release and we’ll be communicating more about it in the coming months."

Assassin's Creed: Revelations will be out in a few weeks and will be the last chapter for Ezio and Altair. This game for 2012 will revolve around the last story arc left; Desmond Miles.

If Assassin's Creed 3 is actually coming next year, or maybe Assassin's Creed:[insert title here], I doubt it will be the last. They could easily find different story arc's to keep the Assassin's Creed franchise rolling.

I'm not a big fan of games having around a year of development time, so I'm kinda iffy about it. Quality could suffer. Releasing a new title each year hopefully won't come as a regular for future franchises. I'm fine waiting for the sequel just like the rest.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations is still on its way and will be out on November 15 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Soul Calibur V - Meet Ezio Auditore

Ezio joining Soul Calibur V Namco Bandai always tends to add famous characters outside the Soul Calibur world. Past games have added famous characters like Darth Vader, Yoda, Link, and with this new trailer it looks like their staying true to the tradition by adding a character that just got famous a few years ago. For the latest installment in the Soul Calibur series, we have Ezio Auditore from Assassin's Creed joining the fray. Here's first look at Ezio in Soul Calibur V.

Ezio won't be an exclusive character, the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 version of the game will both have the famous Assassin. Soul Calibur V will be out on February 3, 2012 on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.

Assassin's Creed Revelations: Destinies Converge In Ezio's Final Chapter

Okaaaay, so the next Assassin's Creed is still about Ezio. The June 2011 issue of Game Informer covers an old Ezio in the Ottoman occupied Constantinople during the reign of Sultan Bayezid II and Altaïr in Masyaf. First in-game screenshot and more information about the game after the jump.

After having freed Italy from the Templar threat, the Mentor of the Assassin Order, Ezio Auditore finds out that there is a new army of Templars being formed in the city of Constantinople - threatening to destabilize the region. Ezio follows in the footsteps of his spiritual mentor and forefather Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, which will lead him to discovery and revelation.

You'll learn how each of the franchise's major characters -- Altaïr, Ezio, and Desmond -- play a part in the story, and how you'll control each of the three as playable characters. Uncover a brand new part of the world as Ezio travels abroad for the first time to explore the wonders of Constantinople at the height of the Ottoman Empire. Learn about all the new features that set Revelations apart, from a brand new weapon and tool that changes the way you'll fight and traverse the world, to extensive details on the newly customizable multiplayer game.
