Monthly Gametime Roundup - February

ivy boobs Another month, another gametime roundup. Two months in the new year and luckily I'm still keeping up with counting my gametime.

It's become a habit for me to start up the timer on my cellphone every time I decide to play a game. There still have been some moments when i forget to start it up or turn it off right as I start the game or just when I end it but only for a few minutes so it isn't so bad. Sometimes I panic when I want to play a game but can't find my phone to start the timer with. You can view the list on Google Docs.

For this month I haven't been playing as often as I did in January and even missed a few days. Clocking in at about half the total time compared to last month, I can't really blame it on February not having as many days as January, we even got an extra day since 2012 is a leap year.

Here's the list of games I've played during the month of February and on what platform I played them on.

PS3: Grand Theft Auto IV Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 Soul Calibur V Twisted Metal (Demo) Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations (Demo) SSX (Demo)

PSP: Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Impact Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max Super Stardust Portable Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X

Wii: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Rhythm Heaven Fever

DS: Kirby: Mass Attack Mega Man Zero Collection Tetris DS

GBA: Mega Man: Battle Chip Challenge

NES: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters Balloon Fight Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

iPod Touch: Fruit Ninja Lite

iPad 2: Fruit Ninja Lite HD

PC: Tetris Battle (Facebook) Super Crate Box SD Gundam Capsule Fighter Online Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer

Tetris Battle on Facebook still took a lot of my gametime but toned down near the end of the month. The multiplayer aspect of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was free on Steam for a weekend after which you could buy if you choose to do so, I didn't. I deleted that game when the free period expired, it's honestly not my kind of thing. Went a bit retro at some point and revisited a few old GBA and NES games to tickle my nostalgia bone. I did miss a few days near the end of the month which surprised me. I never imagined that I'd have a day without playing at least one video game since video games are very accessible now with mobile games and a plethora of portable systems. As for the iPod Touch and iPad 2 entries, I just borrowed them and tried out Fruit Ninja. Yes, I even timed those and no, I do not own an iPad 2 or an iPod Touch.

Monthly Gametime Roundup - January

We are now officially one month in the new year and it's time to count up the hours, minutes, and seconds that I've spent gaming for the month of January.

Quash had this idea of timing himself when playing video games and I also decided to partake in this little experiment. But instead of just having a single total number of hours and minutes, I decided to take it a step further and list down each game session and list it down in an online spreadsheet via Google Docs.

Now, this list isn't a 100% accurate as I have missed a few minutes and at most an hour or two because of failing to remember to start the timer right away, I'm only human after all.

Here's a list of all the games I have played during the month and what platform I played them on.

PS3: Heavy Rain (Demo) Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 DiRT 3 Grand Theft Auto IV Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition (Demo) WWE All Stars (Demo) Asura's Wrath (Demo) Super Stardust HD (Demo) Castle Crashers (Demo) NBA Jam: On Fire Edition Elevator Action Deluxe Marvel vs Capcom 2 Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (Demo) Saints Row: The Third Gotham City Impostors Beta Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (Demo)

Total Game Time for 2012

Glee is gay A brand new year and a brand new start to just about anything. A perfect time for fresh ideas to be made and executed.

So Quash had this idea about timing each of our game sessions and sum it up to see just how many hours we spend playing video games in a whole year. Quash is doing an overall game time which can be seen on the sites sidebar. I have taken it a step further by creating a an online spreadsheet on Google Docs which I log in the game time as well the game title and what platform I am playing it on.

Counted by hours, minutes, and seconds which is then added together for an over all gameplay time per day then eventually an over all game time count for the month and finally (when I get down to inputting all the days of the year) an over all count for the year.

For monitoring measures I just use an app on my cellphone which I turn on when I start a game and stop when I know I'm really done for that moment/session. This applies to all home console games, PC games, portable handheld games, and maybe even mobile games. I've missed a few minutes of game time because I sometimes forget to turn on the timer, I've probably lost around 2 hours or less, but as am trying to make it a habit so that starting and stopping the timer will become second nature.

You can view my spreadsheet here. I try to update it as often as I can so more often than not there will be daily updates on it and the fact that it's online, I have access to it as long as there is an internet connection.
