If you’ve had a hankering for some hybrid heroics, Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story has you covered. Publisher SCRYsoft and Indonesian studio Agate will be delivering this mashup of academy management and RPG combat to physical and digital shelves in South East Asia for the PlayStation 4 (PS4) on March 24th, 2020.

Agate’s first ever console release, Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story tasks players with the management of a hero training facility to train and the discover the next generation of legends, while leading them into real-time combat. Every decision you make centers on expanding and improving your fine educational institution while guiding students on the journey to self-improvement and heroic development.

Originally crowdfunded under the incomprehensibly vague title, “Valthirian Arc: Red Covenant,” Hero School Story evokes a little bit of the cross pollination between genres found in Recettear, which tosses a fair chunk of business management with action-RPG combat. That is to say, taking the sunny adventurousness of high fantasy while grounding it with the sheer terror of budget and finance.

Manage the school and its students in Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story

There are buildings to be placed, students to be nurtured, gear to be crafted and foes to be slain. Without thoughtful planning, would-be adventurers will lack the quality environment they need to learn. And while you’re building a legendary learning institution, you’ll also have yourself with the politics of Valthiria which is situated at the intersection of five queendoms with differing political interests.

Occasionally, students can undertake errands and side missions that will provide them with enriching experiences and give you a broader picture of the world of Valthiria. Combat is entirely in real-time in Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story and employs a party system that lets them switch between different members to assign commands and implement various strategies.

Students at your academy can learn three different core disciplines and assume any of six specialized sub-classes. Key to success is an efficient party configuration that uses a combination of these roles. Crafting is also an important component in the game. Defeating enemies yields various materials that can be used to create powerful weapons and gear.

Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story is set for release on the PlayStation 4 on March 24th, 2020. A Day One Edition of the physical release comes in a special steelcase package.
