The Last of Us Part 1 Have Gone Gold Ahead of its September Release

Naughty Dog have announced that The Last of Us Part 1 have officially gone gold, which means development of the game has concluded and is all set for its release on the PlayStation 5 on September 2, 2022.

For those unaware, announcing a game project hitting the gold status simply means that development of the game has completed and that the project can now transition to mass production in preparation for its release.

The Last of Us Part 1 is simply a remake of the original game that came out in 2013. Naughty Dog developed this version of the game from the ground up, improving gameplay, character models, and visuals to current gen standards. Story and gameplay remains the same and this version of the game will also include the DLC titled ‘Left Behind’, which revolves around Ellie and her friend Riley before the events of the first game.

This remake will not include the first game’s multiplayer game mode.

The remake will cost $70 for a standard copy (it can go higher with different editions of the game), which many fans have expressed their disagreement on the pricing through the game’s subreddit. Many have said that it was priced too high for the “same game” with just improved visuals and character models. The cost for The Last of Us Part 1 have been going on since the game’s announcement and many are calling the game a “cash grab”, to which the game’s developer Robert Morrison defended the game via Twitter as calling it “the most meticulously built and crafted project that I have ever seen or been a part of in my entire career.”
The Last of Part 1 will be available on the PlayStation 5 this September but will also be available on PC at a later date.
