Tekken 8 Might Get Crossplay in the Future

While it’s not officially confirmed that the upcoming fighting game Tekken 8 will offer crossplay between consoles and PC, game director Katsuhiro Karada confirmed that they are working to make it happen. 

In a tweet, when a user asked Harada about getting crossplay, he replied by saying “Crossplay? Of course I will”

He then continued in the tweet by confirming that he did push for crossplay during the previous generation of consoles, but were “at odds with each other”, referring to PlayStation and Xbox. 

In a separate tweet, he reminded users that at one point, both platforms showed their openness to crossplay, but weren’t supporting third parties in that capacity and that today there are “still some problems left”.

This has been a problem for years and it seems that Harada and the team working on the game hope to make crossplay a reality. Though, expressing that they do want it to happen and they are working on it. There’s no official announcement just yet that Tekken 8 will feature crossplay between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. 

EVO Japan 2023 just concluded and revealed two new characters for the game – Leroy Smith and Asuka Kazama. The event also featured attendees trying out a version of the game, which received positive feedback. When Harada was asked about a possible beta for Tekken 8, he replied by saying that they are still doing closed alpha tests at events, but to “wait for the beta”, confirming that a beta is definitely in the cards in the future.

Marketing of Tekken 8 has been ramping up this year yet the game has no release date announced so far. The fighting game is set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
