Obsidian confirms Avowed is coming to PS5 on February 17 alongside a major anniversary update featuring New Game Plus, Photo Mode, and expanded character customization.

The Outer Worlds 2 isn’t Obsidian displaying any major advances in game design or unique innovations that would turn heads. This is a game of solid refinement from a studio that believes so deeply in the world they created in 2019. This resulted in a cohesive and entertaining RPG that could very well solidify as one of their best works today. 

Grounded 2 launches in early access with a bigger map, new mounts called Buggies, and over 20 hours of content in Act 1. It builds on everything that worked in the first game while setting up even larger adventures. Here’s what’s new, what’s missing, and whether it’s worth playing now.

While it does look like it’s a perfect game for those that enjoy high-fantasy adventures similar to Elder Scrolls, not many know that Avowed is set in the same universe of another famous title by Obsidian, Pillars of Eternity. So, does a player need to play the Pillers series before diving into this one?

Obsidian Entertainment announced The Outer Worlds Spacer Edition, an upgrade to the 2019 RPG and all DLCs released so far and those that own the original game will have to pay to upgrade to this version at a lower price. It comes with enhanced visuals, a dynamic weather system, a level cap increase, and more.

The Switch version of Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds now has the second and final DLC content called Murder on Eridanos. The new content raises the level cap by 3 and adds an array of weapons, armor sets and skill customization options for players to utilize as they investigate the death of a certain individual.

Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds is now available on Steam and in GOG after being a timed exclusive title in the Epic Games store for a year. To celebrate, the RPG is 50% off for a limited time.

Chris Avellone, the designer who co-wrote Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, had less than great things to say about the leadership at Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind the upcoming The Outer Worlds. Avellone was a co-founder and co-owner at the studio until he left in 2015.

If it handles as well as other Switch ports, it will become the ideal platform for a game like Pillars 2. Yup, a long, winding RPG epic that's playable in bed, on the train, and more importantly, on the toilet. 

Obsidian is promising "a vast open world, character customization with enough options to make any RPG player want to make a hundred characters, and an exciting narrative that truly delivers."
