Remedy will be remaking Max Payne 1 & 2 with Control’s game engine

It looks like Remedy Entertainment will be working on the remakes of Max Payne and Max Payne 2 as the studios has made a “development agreement” with Rockstar Games. These remakes will be developed in the Northlight game engine, which was used to develop sci-fi action game Control.

The project is currently in it’s concept development stage and is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. No timeline was given but the press release given out says in terms of budget, the remakes will be “financed by Rockstar Games, the size of which will be in line with a typical Remedy AAA-game production,”

“Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same,” said Remedy CEO, Tero Virtala in an announcement message in Remedy’s official website
This marks another high-profile project being worked on by Remedy Entertainment. Don’t forget that Remedy is still working on Alan Wake 2, which is set to release sometime in 2023.
