Rainbow Six Siege’s Next Season Is Operation Solar Raid, To Add Cross-play, Ranked 2.0, and More

Ubisoft has begun revealing what to expect from the next season in Rainbow Six Siege. The new season will be called Operation Solar Raid and will feature improvements to the Ranked mode, cross-play and cross-progression, a new map, and a new operator that has yet to be revealed.

The full reveal is still next week, November 21, at exactly 12:30 PM PT but Ubisoft have given us a taste of what to expect.

Operation Solar Raid - Ranked 2.0, Cross-play and cross-progression, new operator, new map, and more

Ranked changes, or what they call Ranked 2.0, will be a big highlight for the community this season as Ubisoft aims to improve the overall progression through this competitive game mode. So far they only mentioned that a new rank will be added into the mix. More details to follow in the full reveal.

Other changes coming to this season will be an update on the game’s current Battle Pass system, the addition of a Reputation score display, and finally, cross-play and cross-progression.

Cross-play simply allows PC and console players to play together in Siege while the implementation of cross-progression adds a unified progression and inventory shared between all platforms. More details will be shared next week as it’s not clear if, let’s say, PC players will need to buy the console version of the game in order to play the game with all the progression and rewards earned in their PC account.

We then have the brand new map coming to Siege in Operation Solar Raid and it’s called Nighthaven Labs. The new map will be part of the competitive pool of maps when the season goes live. You can see a glimpse of the new map below.

Lastly, the new operator. No official details just yet on the new Colombian Defender but it was teased that the operator will be part of team Ghosteyes, which was also introduced this week. Based on the gadgets shown in the teaser, The team will be led by Caveira and will consist of Zero, Nokk, Vigil, Lesion, Mozzie, and the new operator.

This is Ubisoft’s way of injecting some form of narrative as they continue to support Rainbow Six Siege as early in the year a batch of Operators defected from Team Rainbow to join Nighthaven. Specialized teams were formed in response to the defection. Team Wolfguard was introduced during the Oeprator Vector Glare season, and now we have Team Ghosteyes.

We’ll know more about the new season Operation Solar Raid next week.
