Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will feature 4-player co-op multiplayer

In the latest trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet Violet, it revealed that the next game will feature four-player co-op multiplayer, a first for the series. It also revealed that it will launch on the Nintendo Switch November 18, 2022.

“Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet allow multiplayer gameplay with up to four players. Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, you will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players. You can discover new Pokémon and explore unfamiliar areas with your friends and family, opening the door to an adventure more precious and fun than ever!” according to the official website for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.

Pokémon Company didn’t provide the full details just yet but based on the trailer it would seem that this is a more open world offering compared to Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield where it only featured large open areas. At the end of the video, we are then treated with our first look at the game’s legendary Pokémon, which seems to be the past and future versions of the same Pokémon?
