PlayStation VR 2 See-through View, Broadcasting, and Cinematic Mode Features Detailed by Sony

Sony Interactive Entertainment have provided more details about the upcoming PlayStation VR2 headset, focusing on the new features such as the broadcasting option, see-through feature, and more.

PlayStation VR 2 features detailed

In a detailed blog post by Sony, the PS VR2 will feature a see-through feature, which will be handy for the user as it allows you to check where the Sense controllers are without the need to remove the headset. A press of a button allows the player to switch between viewing content on your headset or seeing your surroundings.

Additionally, you can set up a play area with the Sense controller by scanning your room and making a limit for your customized play area. If you go beyond the set boundary, the device will give you a warning. This is done thanks to the PS VR2 Sense controllers that have embedded cameras to scan the area.

The PS VR 2 will also have a broadcast feature. With the use of the PS5 HD camera connected to the PS5, players can film themselves what they are playing while showing their actual movement.

The PS VR2 will also have two modes: VR Mode and Cinematic Mode.

VR Mode will also allow users to take in content in a 360 view in a virtual environment displayed in 4000x 2040 HDR video format with a 90Hz/120Hz frame rate.

In Cinematic Mode, users will be able to view the PS5 system and UI and all non-VR game and media through a virtual cinema screen. Whatever you choose to view will be displayed in a 1920x1080 HDR video format with 24/60Hz and also 120Hz frame rate.

So far, Sony have been sending out bite-sized information on their upcoming PS VR2 headset meant to complement the PlayStation 5, and they plan to share more details in the near future. At this point, no price range or release date have been attached to the new device.
