Newcomer Kimberly and fan-favorite Juri announced for Street Fighter 6

Capcom announced two new characters joining the Street Fighter 6 roster during EVO 2022 - Newcomer Kimberly and fan-favorite Juri. A new gameplay trailer was shown right after the conclusion of the Street Fighter V tournament, showcasing the two characters in action.

Here’s a quick description of each character according to a PlayStation Blog post released the same time they were announced.

Kimberly

“Bust out some beats and shake up your spray cans to welcome the newest ninja to Street Fighter 6. Kimberly invited herself to become Guy’s student, who is the 39th Successor to Bushinryu after defeating his master Zeku, the 38th Successor. Kimberly had an ordinary upbringing, but she’s a prodigy who graduated college early and now wants to be a full-fledged ninja. She is infatuated with ’80s pop culture when the portable cassette player was at its peak popularity, hence why she always carries one with her.”

Juri

“First appearing in Super Street Fighter IV, Juri remains a sadistic thrillseeker who enjoys the suffering of others, taking immense joy in obliterating her foes. Previously, her main motivator was revenge against M. Bison, but since his fall in Street Fighter V, she now whittles away her time in a gloomy haze. What lies in store for her now?”

Juri is looking like her old self, with move sets that would look familiar to those that played her in Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter V. The real change is in her facial expressions as she looks more sadistic than ever, which I feel is perfect as that’s always been her persona, and it looks like the Capcom team wants to double down on that characteristic.

Kimberly, on the other hand, looks and seems fun to play. A cool spin to introduce a new ninja design-wise, with moves that feel like an evolution of Zeku and Guy’s play styles. She could have deadly mix ups as she has these projectiles that stay in the ground for a few seconds before exploding. If used correctly, it can lead to extended combos or opportunities to keep the pressure going.

Fans that have been keeping an eye on everything Street Fighter were aware that these two characters were coming as after the big reveal of the game’s gameplay back in June, a massive leak showing the game’s supposed full roster was revealed to the public. So far, everything shown in the leak seem to be on point.

During Day 1 of EVO 2022, Capcom also announced two commentators for the game - Tasty Steve and James Chen, two well-known figures in the fighting game community will be part of the new Real Time Commentary Feature of the game.

With Juri and Kimberly confirmed, that brings the roster to six. Street Fighter 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam sometime in 2023.
