Microsoft Announces Xbox Game Pass Core, Replaces Xbox Live Gold This September

Microsoft announced that they are replacing their long-running service Xbox Live Gold with Xbox Game Pass Core on September 14.

This new service is a new tier for Microsoft’s Game Pass service as it’s the cheapest monthly subscription offer that will provide access to online console multiplayer, member discounts, and a catalog of over 25 games to play.

Here’s the full list of games Xbox Game Pass Core members will get access to.

• Among Us

• Descenders

• Dishonored 2

• Doom Eternal

• Fable Anniversary

• Fallout 4

• Fallout 76

• Forza Horizon 4

• Gears 5

• Grounded

• Halo 5: Guardians

• Halo Wars 2

• Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

• Human Fall Flat

• Inside

• Ori & The Will of the Wisps

• Psychonauts 2

• State of Decay 2

• The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited

This will be the launch lineup for Xbox Game Pass Core as Microsoft plans to update this list two to three times a year.

There will no longer be monthly game offers to look forward to each month, but subscribers can take advantage of the Games with Gold feature one last time this August as it will officially end on September 1.

Xbox Game Pass Core will be priced at $9.99 monthly or $59.99 annually.

What about existing Xbox Live members?

For those that currently have an Xbox Live Gold subscription, you will be automatically converted to Xbox Game Pass Core once it goes live on September 14 at no additional cost. If you still have a subscription after September 14, expect the games above to be available to you.

The games you redeemed through Xbox Live Gold will also be left untouched once they’ve made the transition this September, so don’t worry that you’ll lose all the games you’ve collected ever since you started with Xbox Live Gold.

Xbox Live Gold has been around for over twenty years as it served as Microsoft’s premium subscriptions service until they released Game Pass in 2017.
