Forza Horizon 6 Announced at TGS 2025, Set in Japan
/During Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 showcase, Playground Games closed the broadcast with the reveal of Forza Horizon 6. While the teaser was brief, it confirmed a major detail: the next entry will take place in Japan.
The open-world racing series is beloved for its freedom and style, and Forza Horizon 6 is set to release sometime in 2026. In a recent Xbox interview, the developers explained why Japan is the perfect fit for the franchise.
“Japan has such a unique culture – from cars, to music, to fashion – that make it perfect for the next Horizon setting. As with any Horizon title, we want to make sure we do the country justice in terms of authentic representation and Horizon open world playability – and now is the right time to realize that fully for players.” says Art Director Don Arceta.
Changing Seasons in Forza Horizon 6
The developers also touched on the game’s dynamic seasonal system. Arceta explained that the team “built a system where seasonal changes truly inform the world – how spring, summer, autumn, and winter subtly shift tone, activity, and sound.”
Locations Across Japan
While the interview avoided specifics, Tokyo is confirmed as one of the central locations. Players can also expect diverse environments ranging from bustling city streets to rural and mountainous areas.
Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled to launch in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Game Pass, and Steam. A PlayStation 5 release will follow shortly after its debut on Xbox and PC.
Ghost of Yotei is less of an upgrade but a clear testament to Sucker Punch’s true specialty, and a reminder of how powerful an open-world samurai adventure can be. It’s gorgeous, tightly crafted, endlessly absorbing, and a must-play for anyone with a PS5.
