Final Fantasy XVI Will Take Around 35 Hours To Complete the Main Story, Over 70 for Side Content

New Information has surfaced regarding Square Enix’s upcoming Final Fantasy XVI as the latest Famitsu interview with developers Hiroshi Takai and Naoki Yoshida revealed that the game will talk around 35 hours to complete the main story. If you do most of the side quests, your total time could reach over 70 hours.

Thanks to the English translations made by Aitaikimochi, the interview also revealed that the game will have about “11 hours of cutscenes”, and that does not include the scene that happens during battle events and cutscenes not related to the game’s main story.

During early development, Yoshida mentioned that they initially planned that the game can be completed in about 20 hours, but as development progressed, more content was added that it eventually led to it being roughly 35 hours.

“For this game, we really wanted the player to be able to experience the story from start to finish. If the story length was too long, then it might get tiring to play. That’s why we want FF16 to feel like a roller coaster experience where just when you think you can see the road ahead of you, you’re pulled into another direction.” says Yoshida during the interview.

If a player does almost everything the game has to offer – from side quests, monster hunts, gathering all accessories, and leveling up all abilities – you can probably see yourself spending 70 to even 80 hours to reach 100% completion.

For added value, Final Fantasy XVI will have a difficult New Game+ mode called “Final Fantasy Mode”. There will be a leaderboard that will be available for players’ second run of the game where they can compete with other players around the world.

Final Fantasy XVI is set to launch on June 22, 2023, on PlayStation 5.
