Battlefield 2042 Season 1 Zero Hour Launches This Week

DICE have finally revealed the first season for Battlefield 2042 and it launches this week, June 9. Titled Zero Hour, this major update features a new specialist, map, weapons, and the game’s first battle pass with 100 tiers of rewards.

The trailer focuses on the upcoming map called Exposure, a mountainous battleground set in Canada. We then get a glimpse of the new Specialist Ewelina Lis, which is equipped with a rocket launcher that fires a remote missile.

Battlefield 2042 will now also include two stealth helicopters and two weapons – the R10 Crossbow and the BSV-M marksman rifle. A new gadget called the smoke launcher is also coming to the game and can be acquired for free as part of the game’s battle pass.

Before the reveal of season 1, Battlefield 2042 received patch 1.0.0, which provides tweaks to the netcode, balance changes, and improvements to animation.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what to expect from the latest patch

  • Multiple improvements to soldier gameplay which will result in overall smoother animations and movement.

  • Weapons received updated netcode to improve bullet hit registration. We’ve also done a further balance pass which includes increased projectile speeds for DMR’s and LMG’s, and improved accuracy for Shotguns.

  • Multiple new XP events have been added, such as for killing an enemy who recently wounded or killed a squadmate, or when an enemy vehicle you recently damaged is destroyed by a teammate and the occupants are killed

  • The number of available in-world vehicles has been increased for Conquest which should make it easier to move across the map

  • Sundance’s Wingsuit has been adjusted to lower overall flight time, while making it easier to maneuver. To simplify their Specialty, the EMP Field Smart Explosive has been removed

This is a major week for DICE as this is a long-awaited release for Battlefield 2042. Season 1 was delayed multiple times due to the developers focusing on the various issues that plague the game’s launch last year.
