Back 4 Blood’s Third Expansion Is River Blood, Adds an Act 6 and More

Turtle Rock Studios revealed the third expansion for their 4-player co-op shooter Back 4 Blood and it’s called River Blood. It launches on December 6, 2022 and will include a new Cleaner with an infected ally, a new Ridden with two variants, new weapons, accessories, cards, skins, and an Act 6.

Back 4 Blood River Blood Expansion adds an Act 6 with five stages

The River Blood expansion is part of the Back 4 Blood Annual Pass, completing the three expansions included in the package. The third expansion features an Act 6 that seems to have five maps.

The expansion’s new Cleaner is Tala, a former Cultist that was converted to be part of the Cleaners and is accompanied with a Ridden companion named Jeff. A first for the game as this friendly Tallboy can be summoned to assist the team, though we don’t know just yet in what capacity.

The River of Blood expansion will also feature 12 weapon skins and 8 Cleaner skins. As for new weapons, it is not clear if this will be a free update as the weapon featured in the expansion is a flamethrower, a weapon teased before River Blood was announced.

What is confirmed for free though is the Trial of the Worm cooperative PvE mode coming to the game. Players will determine their path through a run of four maps. Players can add Corruption Modifiers and/or choose a more difficult path to increase the difficulty for a bigger boost on how much Supply Points you will earn when you complete it.

The release of the River Blood expansion will go live the same time the annual Back 4 Blood Holiday event kicks off, which is December 6 and will run until January 4, 2023. When the event goes live, you’ll experience a more festive Fort Hope and holiday-themed cosmetics to earn during the event.

Back 4 Blood is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC through Steam, and is also available in PC Game Pass.
