After 2 Years, Stranger Things DLC for Dead by Daylight Is Back

Stranger Things DLC returns to Dead by Daylight 2023

The best surprise during Stranger Things Day happened for Dead by Daylight fans as the Stranger Things DLC is now back in the game, meaning those who missed out on the DLC can now purchase the Survivors and the Killer just like before.

Perfect timing too as the return of the Stranger Things content happened on Stranger Things Day, a special celebration day for the fans of the show as November 6 marks the day Will Myers went missing in Hawkins.

The return of the Stranger Things DLC also brings the Underground Complex map back into the rotation for all players. Time stopped for the Stranger Things map as it’s the same layout before it was sadly removed from the game due to the agreement between Behaviour Interactive and Netflix expired.

The Jonathan Byers legendary outfit will also return, giving players a second chance at picking up this unique outfit for the Survivor Steve.

The studio never explained officially why they couldn’t make a renewal or made a new agreement with Netflix to keep the DLC in the game. Thanks to the agreement expiring, Survivors Nancy, Steve, and Killer Demogorgon were removed from the game’s in-game store, preventing players from purchasing the content. The Hawkins map was also removed from the game.

Thankfully, those who owned the Stranger Things DLC before it was removed from the game still had access to the Chapter’s Survivors and Killer. Thanks to the DLC’s removal, Behaviour converted the Survivor and Killer perks associated with the Stranger Things DLC to become general perks in the game. This change allowed any player who didn’t own the Chapter to not miss out on those unique perks.

With the Stranger Things DLC now back, Behaviour aims to release a patch that will make those perks exclusive character perks once again.

Here’s the official statement from the developers on this change:

What about the Perks?

Each Stranger Things character was released with 3 unique Perks, which became General Perks following the Chapter’s removal. As of now, they will regain their previous names. In a later patch, they will revert to being exclusive character Perks.

If you levelled up a character while these Perks were general Perks, what you have unlocked will remain unlocked. However, you will not be able to unlock further Perk Tiers until you have purchased the Character Perk from the Shrine of Secrets or leveled up the Stranger Things characters to Prestige 1, 2, and 3.

The Dead by Daylight Stranger Things DLC was officially removed in November 2021.
