A Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Was Announced, Set for a 2023 Release

It looks like the hack-and-slash game Lollipop Chainsaw is getting the remake treatment by a newly established company that consist of some of the original developers and is planning for a 2023 release.

The company working on the Lollipop Chainsaw remake will be Dragami Games, a newly established company from the game’s original producer Yoshimi Tasuda.

The company is said to deliver the same game with graphical improvements based on new-gen hardware and new music due to licensing issues from the game’s original licensed tracks. The new game will be worked on by some of the developers that worked on the original game with Yasuda as producer.

Yasuda mentioned that due to  “various factors”, those interested in playing the original game “can no longer easily play Lollipop Chainsaw, and it has been some time since players have not been able to access the game on current consoles.”. “In any case, our goal is to make it easier for gamers who want to play Lollipop Chainsaw to do so. Please look forward to the game’s 2023 release” says Yasuda in a Tweet.

Lollipop Chainsaw was originally released in 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game is about a highschool cheerleader named Juliet Starling facing a zombie outbreak with a severed talking head strapped on her belt. Suda 51 was the game’s creative director and so far there’s no word if he will be part of the remake in any form.
