2021 Steam Awards’ Game of the Year is Resident Evil Village

Valve has announced the winners of Steam’s 2021 Steam Awards and Capcom’s Resident Evil Village was crowned as Game of the Year by Steam’s community.

In the list of games nominated together with Resident Evil Village, Valheim, New World, Cyberpunk 2077, and Forza Horizon 5 were also in the running for the award.

The Steam Awards this year has a variety of typical categories you’d expect from an Awards, but they do have fun ones like ‘Best Game you Suck at’ with Nioh 2: Compete Edition announced as the winner, and understandably so. All the winners in the Steam Awards were voted by the Steam community. 

Here’s the list of winners from the 2021 Steam Awards.

  • Game of the Year - Resident Evil Village

  • VR Game of the Year -  Cooking Simulator VR

  • Labour of Love - Terraria

  • Better With Friends - It Takes Two

  • Outstanding Visual Style - Forza Horizon 5

  • Most Innovative Gameplay - Deathloop

  • Best Game You Suck At - Nioh 2: Complete Edition

  • Best Soundtrack - Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy

  • Outstanding Story-Rich Game - Cyberpunk 2077

  • Sit Back and Relax - Farming Simulator 22

Cyberbunk 2077 failed to nab the Game of the Year award but they did walk home winning in the ‘Outstanding Story-rich Game’ award. A game that launched with numerous issues in 2020, was able to beat out new titles like Life is Strange: True Colors, and even a beloved trilogy, Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
