Kinect hacked to work with PlayStation 3, plays Killzone 3 badly

Microsoft's Kinect, the fastest-selling gadget ever, has now been hacked to work with the PlayStation 3.

The Kinect isn't directly plugged into a PS3, though (that would be too awesome). Instead, it's plugged into a conventional PC laptop, where PrimeSense's first-party drivers are used to interface with Kinect. The data from Kinect is then converted into a format that the PS3 can understand, and output directly to the console using using diyps3controller, which lets the laptop USB controller interface with the PS3.

There's a video of the developer logging in and playing Killzone 3 on his PS3 using the Kinect after the break. Well, attempting to play Killzon 3, we should say. It seems like the hack has a little way to go before it's actually usable...

It's Official

S#17 just got real. This, my friends, is now officially Mortal Kombat. Dan "Toasty" Forden makes an apperance again as an easter egg in the game and shouts "Toasty!" in a falsetto.

I haven't seen this easter egg since MK 3 or 4 but it was very memorable for the few times we got it to work back in the day (I'm not a very good MK player).

Giant 3DS AR Card

A couple of people in Japan have made their own giant AR card. AR cards are those little Augmented Reality cards that the Nintendo 3DS can read and project 3D models on, like a Mii.

They made a huge one in order to generate a Mii the size of the 1/1 scale Tetsujin 28 that is on display in Kobe, Japan.

EA Sports helping the Earth, ditches printed manuals

The days of the printed instruction manual may be numbered. EA Sports has joined the likes of Ubisoft in ditching printed manuals altogether, the publisher has confirmed.

The change started with the release of Fight Night Champion, which shipped only with  a slip containing an online pass code (and a Crysis 2 ad on the flipside), along with small warranty pamphlet. A complete digital manual can be found on the game disc by selecting "Manual" from the game's main menu.

"Thank you for supporting our efforts to significantly reduce paper in our products," the pamphlet reads.

Considering how flimsy EA's instructions manuals have been for years, this probably won't impact consumers all that much. Of course, folks who yearn for the days of old and those thick, full-color instruction manuals (first-party Nintendo games were always tops back in the day), this is a sad sign. However, the trade off -- reduced waste -- seems worth it.

But really, when was the last time you actually read an instruction manual anyhow?

Next Minecraft Update Will Feature Wolves [Video]

Wolves are new mobs set to appear in Minecraft Beta 1.4, which may also be considered pets as you will have the ability to tame them. They are said to be rare, but they will not despawn once tamed. Once tamed, they will become friendly and will protect you, follow you around and attack mobs that you melee'd. A red collar will indicate that a wolf is tamed and you can tame more than one wolf.
