2K resurfaces XCOM shooter, now called The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

The-bureau-xcom-declassified-ss01 Remember the XCOM shooter revealed way before the XCOM: Enemy Unknown reboot? Well its not dead. With the success of the reboot, I'm assuming the title change was done to avoid any confusion between the two games. A live-action trailer was released to reveal the game's re-title and has given it a release date.

A live-action trailer? yea...not the best way to bring back a title not that well received when it was first revealed to the public. The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will be released on August 20 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

Polygon reports that the XCOM shooter will be an origins story of some kind that will show how the XCOM organization started, and is set in 1962 when the Cold War is at its peak. What they are trying to achieve with this FPS is to provide a lot of strategy elements into it, much like what we know in an XCOM game.

Will it be any good? Well, I wasn't too happy when it was first revealed, but since we now have a perfect reboot of the original XCOM, checking it out when it comes out in August wouldn't hurt..will it?

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection

Metal Gear Solid The Legacy Collection With me deciding to get a GameCube instead of a PS2 back in the day, I missed out on a lot of really cool games. I have a PS2 now but I still haven't gotten a chance to play both Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I do currently own a PS3 but have not yet acquired a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The HD collection was a prime choice for me to catch up on some Tactical Espionage Action and with MGS4 going for sale on the cheap, money constraints have still prevented me from getting those particular disc. This latest announcement from Konami seems to solve all that.

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is basically the MGS HD Collection plus MGS4. Aside from the adventures of Solid Snake and Naked Snake's intruduction into the MGS series, Peace Walker is also part of this new collection. What really interested me is the inclusion of Ashely Wood's digital graphic novels. Since the word 'novel' is used in it's plural form, I am hoping that the digital graphic novel of MGS2 is also included as I have never heard anything about it outside of that first trailer that I saw that one time on GameTrailers. This legacy is a collection that I must own.

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is scheduled to come in June of this year on PS3. No word yet on an Xbox360 release but with the omission of Peace Walker on the Xbox360 version of the MGS HD Collection, don't get your hopes up.

Bethesda reveals The Evil Within

the-evil-within Bethesda has revealed their new IP which strays away from the usual games we see the publisher dish out. It's called The Evil Within and is created by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. Is this Survival Horror's comeback finally? Well, thanks to the goosebumps I got from this live action teaser, I'd say yes for now.

Unsettling stuff I know, but don't get completely sold just yet. This is a live action and we'd like to see if the Resident Evil mastermind and Bethesda can convert all that disturbing atmosphere into a game. The Survival Horror genre has seen better days and I'm hoping this could well be a good jump-start for the genre to get momentum and new players wanting for more. And when gamers want more, developers and publishers will try to meet that demand.

There isn't much info about The Evil Within at this point but it's set for a 2014 release on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and next  generation consoles.

Crytek USA looking into buying Darksiders franchise

Darksiders-2-Arguls-Tomb-DLC-Release-Date This is actually old news but I was thinking if posting anyway because I'd really like this franchise to stay afloat for future projects. With me now a fan of the series that has now played both Darksiders 1 and 2, It would be sad to see a series go out like this simply because It couldn't find a new home after THQ's unfortunate bankruptcy. But thankfully a company has taken interested . Crytek USA has shown interest and the best part is a good portion of what used to be Vigil Games(Developers of Darksiders) is now working at the said studio.

CEO of Crytek USA David Adams was once the head of Vigil Games and is now attempting to bid the Darksiders franchise during this month's last batch of THQ IP auction. The CEO tweeted that  "The IP belongs in the hands of its creators.". The bidding started during the start of April and all bids concluded on the 15th of April, on May 1, we will see the results of the auction.

Hopefully everything goes their way since I'd like to see the franchise get picked up and hopefully continued in the near future. There's a chance someone would own the franchise when the auction ends this month, but the best case scenario is Crytek USA owning it. Crytek is excited with the newly formed USA studio composed of Vigil developers but is sadly not interested in making a new Darksiders game as of right now. But it's better to have the series in the creators pockets when an opportunity presents itself.

Darksiders is a game with tons of elements mixed together. It's one title that isn't afraid to take risks, and the difference in gameplay between the two games is quite big thanks to the second game's level up and loot system that makes you feel like your playing some sort of action RPG mixed with Zelda-like gameplay.

If you get the chance, try out Darksiders 1 and 2. If your into hack and slash games, you might appreciate this game plus the added elements around it. I'm currently going through Darksiders 2 on my PC and It bothers me that when I finish the game, there might be nothing after it. Praying that we get good news at the end of the month.
