Batman: Arkham Asylum Playthrough with Migoy

Batman Arkham Asylum

Since I got my PS3 late last year, I missed out on the initial hype of Batman: Arkham Asylum. Didn't get Batman: Arkham City when it was new because I wanted to play Arkham Asylum first since the stories are directly related and I heard the gameplay of Arkham Asylum isn't drastically different from Arkham City.

I decided to capture my complete first playthrough of Arkham Asylum and then hopefully dive into Arkham City shortly after. I know that my playthroughs are older games but I've only recently had time to really play them. Join me on my quest as I punch dudes in the mouth as Batman.

Just Cause 2 Let's Play by Migoy

Just Cause 2 I just started playing Just Cause 2 and decided that I will capture most (if not all) my gameplay footage of it to share with you my experience with the game.

I bought a second hand platinum copy of Just Cause 2 way back in April this year but only touched it now. The reason being that I simply had no time. Now that I do, I will hopefull record my complete first playthrough of this game and upload it to our youtube channel. With only the CD-RKing Gaming Capture Box at my displosal, please bare with me as there might some differences in the quality of the videos as I am trying out different bitrates and encoding options to find out what works best with what I have.

I will be putting all my Just Cause 2 videos into a playlist and maybe do the same for other games if I decide to do recording sessions of them too.

[Updated - 11/08/12 ] Datablitz raided for selling 'pirated' software?

Well you don't hear this everyday. Datablitz, the go-to place to buy original hardware and video games in the Philippines have been raided by PNP for selling 'pirated' software.

In an article coming from GMA news,  The raid was triggered by a complaint coming from X-Play Online Games Inc., the distributor games such as NBA 2k13, Diablo 3, and other games. It was said that the branch at Robinsons Ermita mall was hit by this raid but another article from Bombo Radyo Philippines reports that other branches have been raided as well.

Communities such as TipidPC.com are currently doubting the reports that Datablitz is indeed selling pirated software. Datablitz has been the go-to place when it comes to original game titles, so I don't blame them.

With regards to Datablitz's website, Back2Gaming reports that the site being down has nothing to do with the raid, it so happens that it went down during this incident.

This is definitely not the full story at this time. Will update as soon as any update comes up.

-----Original post above---------

UPDATED - 11/06/12 5PMInteraAksyon reports that the raid seized 2.65M worth of unauthorized gaming software across multiple Datablitz branches. NBA 2k13 was one of the unauthorized games seized, they did not specify on the other titles seized. So it was not a raid for selling piracy but more of unauthorized selling of certain titles. This is pretty big since Datablitz would be charged with violation of Section 168 of Republic Act 8293, or the law on unfair competition.

Both Datablitz and X-Play has yet to make official statements on the matter, but an update on the GMA article suggests that an official statement will be released on Wednesday morning, November 7.

UPDATED - 11/06/12 9PM - jayvee Hernandez, a blogger, has posted the official statement from X-Play regarding the raid. Datablitz has yet to release a statement

UPDATED - 11/07/12 4PM. - Datablitz Releases an official statement regarding the monday incident through their Facebook page. Thanks Tim from GameRumble for pointing out the release at the comments!

Here is also another link to X-Play's official statement on the matter that was posted on their website.

As the story develops, I keep saying to myself "Who the hell is X-Play??" Out of nowhere they start waving that they are official distributors of titles such as NBA 2k13, Diablo 3, and more. It's unfortunate that this happened to Datablitz and hopefully they find a way to get past this and continue to provide good quality original titles to the public.

UPDATED - 11/08/12 4PM - Inquirer Tech reports that during the raid, CIDG seized 2.7M worth of products that were allegedly smuggled from Hong Kong and Singapore.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Demo Impression

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance Demo Impression If you caught my latest Recent Buys post, you'd know that I got myself a copy of Zone of the Enders HD Collection which comes with a demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I played the demo a bit and here is my impression of the game so far.

I'll be blunt, I like it. The demo is far from perfect but it's a demo so you have to give it some slack. The slashing isn't as dynamic as I thought it would be it's still pretty kickass and I like how the precision cutting comes into play against certain scenarios and enemy types where you have to slice specific body parts to expose the energy drink juice I mean fluids filled with electrolytes to replenish your health. Controlwise the game feels great and gives you the sense that this truly is an action game which Platinum Games excels at.

Basic attacks are mapped to the face buttons as well as the jump button and your action button. The shoulder buttons are mapped with the precision cutting aim, the ninja run and secondary item/weapon uses. When you go into the precision cut aim view, you aim the direction of your slice with the right analog stick while the left analog stick lets you control the camera. If you don't feel like you need to aim your slices and just want to cut up a dude into meat slices so bad, the square and triangle buttons will also work. Square acting as the horizonal slash and triangle as the vertical slash ala Soul Calibur.

Aside from nameless cyborg grunts, you also get to face a few Metal Gear Gekkos as an enemy type as well as a killer robot dog with a chainsaw tail as a boss at the end of the demo wherein some kickass music plays along for the boss fight. It's also refreshing to see crazy animated cutscenes without having to worry about some annoying quick time event prompts interrupting the action. Oh Platinum Games, you get me. I personally can't wait for the release of this game and you better be too because Raiden might have been that wussy anime pretty boy from MGS2 but now is a badass cyborg ninja who can cut you up while holding a sword with his foot.

Recent Buys: Episode 14 - Enders Optiks Revengeance

Zone of the Enders HD and Gunnar Edge

Judging from the picture above, you've already deduced what I got. But I'm still going to talk about them anyway.

Got myself a new videogame and which actually is two game in one and that is Zone of the Enders HD Collection. I got a PS2 really late in it's lifespan (2008 to be exact) and missed out on the Zone of the Enders series. I've heard a lot of good things about it, especially the second game, and the fact that they're Hideo Kojima games is reason enough for anybody to be interested in them. I'm also a huge mecha fan so I should be pretty much covered. Aside from having both Zone of the Enders games in one disc, also included is a demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I was excited about Rising when they revealed it for the first time and got even more excited when Konami handed it over to Platinum Games, and as I've said in the previous Recent Buys, I love stuff by Platinum Games.

The second item on the list are a pair of Gunnar gaming glasses. I've been curious about Gunnars for a while but skepticism has always gotten the better of me. Curiosity finally beat out my skepticism because the only way I would be able to experience the quality of Gunnar glasses is to get a pair myself since their steep prices keep most people away. I'll test out these glasses a bit longer before I give out my opinion about them. The pair I got is called the GUNNAR Edge and goes for 3999php at DataBlitz. Told you it was steep.

Master Chief Odd Pods

Last but not least, I got myself a little figure of Master Chief from the OddPods line of McFarlane toys. It was going for half-off at the ToyKingdom warehouse sale at SM MegaMall. It's cheap, it's MightyMuggs-ish, and videogames. Till next time, guys.
