The Settlers reboot launches on PC in March, closed beta announced

The reboot to the real-time strategy game The Settlers will release on PC on March 17, Ubisoft announced. Those eager to play this version of the RTS classic can register for the closed beta happening from January 20 -24.

You can register for the closed beta here. Those who get in the closed beta will be able to play the game’s tutorial, two playable factions, and two skirmish modes - 1v1 and 2v2. The beta will be available through the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect as those who get in can start pre-loading the closed beta starting on January 18.

The Settlers reboot is set to be greatly inspired by The Settlers 3 and The Settlers 4, the most popular titles in the franchise, according to Ubisoft in a press release provided. The last Settlers game was Settlers Online, which was released back in 2010. The reboot was built with Ubisoft's Snowdrop game engine.

For those unfamiliar, The Settlers is an RTS where you manage a group of settlers in a new land as they gather resources, build structures, simply grow your community and defend it from threats by building military units.

The reboot will launch with a single player campaign, three factions,  an Onslaught game mode and Skirmish, which provides solo AI matches, co-op AI matches, and PvP where up to eight players can play against each other.
