Bandai Namco announced that a new DLC pack will allow players to fight against Sword Art Online’s Kirito and Asuna in Tales of Arise. The pack also features new outfits for selected characters, plus unlock an exclusive Mystic Arte for Alphen.

Players that are fans of the Tales series and Sword Art Online anime will get a kick out of this one but it looks like it’s aimed at players that have mastered Tales of Arise as Asuna and Kirito are level 98 encounters that could give you a tough time if your party isn’t prepared.

The battle feature unique interactions between Asuna and Kirito as they face of Alphen and co., but aside from encounter itself, you get to unlock a new Mystic Art for Alphen that features the two Sword Art Online characters in a cool sequence that screams anime. The DLC also gives you access to Kirito’s weapon, though it’s not clear if it’s for cosmetics or an equippable weapon for Alphen.

The Sword Art Online Collaboration DLC is a paid content that will be available for purchase on October 7, 2021. So far, Bandai has not announced the price of this DLC.

Tales of Arise is a big win for Bandai and the whole Tales series and with the announcement like this, it’s safe to expect similar DLC content in the future to support the game.

In our review of the game, it was easily a 9 out of 10 as I consider it one of the best JRPGs I've played in years. The combat never loses its charm after 60 hours of play and it’s easy to lose yourself in this world thanks to the wonderful characters that mature in meaningful ways.

Tales of Arise is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S. Xbox One, and PC.
