Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars Delayed

Konami announced that the upcoming remaster of JRPG Classics Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification will no longer be released sometime in 2023 as the team working on it needs additional time to work on the project.

Here’s the full message from Konami and the developers on the delay.

Notice Regarding Release Schedule for Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars

We would like to thank Suikoden fans everywhere for your ongoing passion and support for the Suikoden series.

Regarding the planned release of Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, we have reached the conclusion that despite the very best efforts of our dedicated development staff to release the remasters in 2023, additional time is needed to ensure the quality performance and gameplay experience our users deserve. The entire Suikoden team is renewing our efforts to bring Suikoden I & II HD Remaster to release as soon as is possible.

We will share further release information as soon as it becomes available, on our official social media accounts and official homepage. We appreciate your understanding and sincerely hope you will continue to lend Suikoden your support.

Thank you,
The Suikoden I & II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars Team

A remaster of both Suikoden and Suikoden 2 for Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC was announced way back in September 2022, which aims to deliver the same JRPG but with improvements such as updated visuals to the game’s unique pixel art animation, battle illustrations upgraded for high-definition, and other quality of life improvements such as an auto safe feature, conversation log, the ability to fast forward battles, and more.

No new release window was given.
