Rogue Legacy 2 leaves Early Access at the end of April

After close to two years since Rogue Legacy 2 hit Early Access on PC, it looks like Cellar Door Games is ready to fully release the game on April 28, 2022.

For those unfamiliar, Rogue Legacy 2 is a sequel to 2013’s Rogue Legacy and is rogue-lite platformer that features several classes and has players play as an adventurer tasked to delve in a series of procedurally generated dungeons. The concept here is when you die, you start at the beginning and then play as another adventurer, which is an heir to the previous character you just played and has a completely new set of traits and abilities to work with. Upgrades are permanent so it’s not a complete reset when you die.

For the sequel, the developers are delivering a similar game compared to the first one but with a variety of improvements in visuals, gameplay and mechanics. In a press release given out by the developer, the team working on the sequel wanted the game “to stay true to the original, but also stand on its own as something new. After nearly four years of development, bringing it to the fans is the final step in this long journey, and we hope they find it as special as we do.”

In celebration of Rogue Legacy 2 leaving Early Access at the end of this month, Epic Games Store is giving out the original Rogue Legacy game for free from April 7 until April 13

Rogue Legacy 2 will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store on April 28.
