PlayStation Plus offers Deep Rock Galactic, Persona 5: Strikers, and Dirt 5 this week

The PlayStation Plus subscription service starts 2022 strong as the free games offered for January 2022 are Deep Rock Galactic, Persona 5: Strikers, and Dirt 5. All of these games will be available for download starting on January 4 for both PS5 and PS4 owners.

The big surprise is 4-player co-op shooter Deep Rock Galactic’s debut on the PlayStation platform as a free offering through PlayStation Plus to start the year. Since the game’s official release two years ago, the game was only available on PC and Xbox until now. Players take on the role of space dwarves hired to mine and explore mineral-rich asteroids, but of course these expeditions are met with waves of hostile aliens, so it’s a balance between getting the job done and surviving as best as possible with a friend or three.

We then have Codemaster’s Dirt 5, a racing sim released back in 2020 that provides the best experience if you’re into the rallying. This off-road arcade racer has over 70 tracks across 10 locations, online multiplayer, and a four-player splitscreen option, something you don’t see everyday.

Lastly, we have Persona 5: Strikers, a game that I initially thought didn’t have to exist but was glad it did after playing the game to completion. It’s a continuation of Persona 5 as the Phantom Thieves tackle a new threat on the road while enjoying a school break. The game replaces the turn-based combat seen in the original and uses a real-time combat approach similar to Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Despite the new gameplay, everything about Persona 5 is intact with Strikers and is a welcome addition to the series. A steal for RPG fans and those subscribed to the PlayStation service.

These PlayStation Plus free games offer will be available starting from January 4 until January 31, 2022.
