Frostpunk 2 Announced, Set 30 Years After The First Game

11 Bit Studios have been teasing something big this week and it’s finally revealed - Frostpunk 2 is real and is set 30 years after the events of the first game. Humanity is still alive and surviving but is going through another set of challenges as they continue to overcome a world now completely covered in snow.

The Frostpunk team has apparently grown in team size since the first game was launched as co-director Jakub Stokalski expressed that the expansion allows the studio to go a bit more ambitious with the sequel.

“We have more manpower available to focus on all aspects of the game from scale, the production value, to the quality of UX. Our ambition is to do more than a straight-up sequel. What we aim to deliver to players is an experience that goes vastly beyond that of the original Frostpunk.” says Stolkalski.

Frostpunk 2 will be available on PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG with no mention of a console version. No release window was given upon the announcement of the sequel, all we can do is place the game on our Steam wishlist for the time being.

This is considered to be the first of three announcements planned by 11 Bit Studios. Only time will tell what else they have up their sleeves.

The original game, Frostpunk, was highly praised by critics and players alike. Even in our review  we gave the city-building survival game a 9/10, as Frostpunk is “a game with gorgeous visuals, hard-bitten scenario design, and powerful thematic consistency. Frostpunk lets you forge a narrative through-line into your playthrough in a way that no other city builder does, making it the definitively chilling take on the genre.” says Matthew Arcilla in his review of the game back in 2018.

If you’re eager to try the first game out, you can play the game for free via Steam right now until August 17. A weekend with Frostpunk is enough time if the city builder survival game is worth the investment as it has multiple expansions available right now. The base game is also 70% off, making it less than PHP 200 to own.
