First look at Sonic Frontiers gameplay focusing on its open world

SEGA released our first look at gameplay footage for Sonic Frontiers with IGN set to cover the open world game for the rest of June. To kick things off, they released seven minutes of Sonic going around the game’s open world.

This is the latest big entry for the Sonic franchise as the blue blur is yet again facing off Dr. Eggman who apparently has lost control on an ‘ancient technology”. What’s interesting about this first showing is that most of it was focused on the world and how you can go around the area as Sonic, with a few puzzles here and there. No actual combat was shown.

Sonic Frontiers was originally slated for a 2021 release to be part of the Sonic franchise’s 30th anniversary, but it was later pushed back to later this year. The game will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
