Elden Ring sales hit 12 million units worldwide

Bandai Namco announced that FromSoftware’s action RPG Elden Ring reaches 12 million units sold worldwide after it launched on February 25, 2022.

This is an insane start for the studio’s new IP which, despite its difficulty, has found a solid footing right off the gate with Dark Souls fans and newcomers alike. This is an open world game, something new for the Japanese studio FromSoftware, who is known for the Dark Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

“It’s astonishing to see just how many people have been playing Elden Ring. I'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team” says president and CEO of FromSoftware Hidetaka Miyazaki in a press release provided by Bandai.

Elden Ring has definitely surprised many and it will be interesting to see where they go from here. Will there be DLC planned or are they moving forward to expand more of what they’ve built so far?

I eventually gave Elden Ring a 10/10 with good reason as their approach to the open world and the level design applied to it makes it one of the most rewarding and dense worlds i’ve had the pleasure to explore.

Elden Ring is now available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbo Series X|S, Xbo One, and PC.
