EA’s EA Play event, which was held on Saturday June 8 EST, kicks off E3 2019 with a short presentation, skipping the traditional presentation we are all used to seeing by now.

Here is a rundown on what was revealed.

Star wars Jedi: Fallen Order Gameplay

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was first up and revealed our first look at gameplay, which was filled with lightsaber action, force powers, and wall running, which feels like a staple to all of Respawn Entertainment’s games so far. Have a look at the lengthy demo below.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is coming on November 15.

Apex Legends Season 2

Apex Legends was next on the list and they talked about the battle royal’s second season. Ranked mode is coming and Titanfall 2’s L-STAR will make it’s debut in Apex Legends’ next season, but only as a care package drop as it’s apparently too strong to have it randomly scattered around the map. Also, a new character is coming and her name is Wattson.

Wattson is an electrical engineer and Respawn considers her as a strategic character compared to the rest of the legends. She has the ability to drop down electric fences that can damage enemies that go through them and her ultimate — the Interception Pylon — blocks incoming projectiles like air strikes as well as incoming grenades. The Pylon can also recharge Wattson’s other abilities as well so you can release more fences to maybe secure an area in the map. Her passive is a bit scary since all it does is make the Ultimate Accelerate item immediately give Wattson her ultimate.

Wattson will be available on the same day Apex Legends’ season 2 starts, which is on July 2.

Battlefield 5’s new maps

DICE talked about what’s coming for Battlefield 5. More maps are coming and while this was revealed before, this more of a reminder to the public of what’s coming to the game. They did mention one new map and it’s called Marita, and it’s set in a Greek village which seems to be focused on infantry combat. This is just one of the maps planned for Chapter 4 and DICE teased Chapter 5, which takes players to the Pacific theater of war against Japan, as well as confirming the return of the famous M1 Garand weapon. They also confirmed private servers for the game, which is coming in September.

Battlefield 5’s Chapter 4: Defying the Odds will launch on June 27.

FIFA 20 featured street mode

FIFA 20 will feature a street mode called Volta Football - allowing players to form squads of your favorite players to compete in 3v3, 4v4, and 5v5 matches. This new mode will have it’s own story mode, an online league, Kick Off games featuring pro players, and Volta World, which allows you to build your team by beating community generated squads then recruiting a player from the opposing team.

FIFA 20 is coming out on September 27.

Madden 20’s career mode

This year’s Madden will feature a complete career mode, giving players the ability to create a character and progress from college football and lead their quarterback all the way to the Super Bowl. There’s also a mode call the Superstar X-Factor, which gives players insane perks which are unlocked by completing certain objectives. These are abilities like giving a star player a perfect passing accuracy during a run. Another example - if you complete four passes of thirty yards with the Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes, you unlock “Bazooka” for the quarterback, which increases his max passing distance by 15 yards. Is this sports?

Madden 20 will be out on August 2.

Sims 4 is still alive and is getting a new expansion

Sims 4 was given out for free recently for a limited time, and that promotion is most likely in connection with the upcoming expansion called Island Living, which is coming this month. The expansion will feature mermaids, volcanoes, boats, fishing, and your sims freely swimming in the ocean. You can have your sims enjoy their time on the island or be a conservationist by cleaning up the beaches, or be a mermaid that apparently has special powers. What kind of powers? EA was too shy to show them off.

The Island Living expansion will launch on June 21.

EA didn’t forget about EA Originals

After EA Play’s livestream presentation, EA talked about what’s next for their EA Originals program. EA is partnering with three indie studios to develop new games: Zoink Games (Fe and Flipping Death, Hazelight Studios (A Way Out), and Glowmade.

Zoink Games is working on Lost in Random, a game “set in a beautifully dark and vivid world” filled with puzzles to solve and monsters to beat. Glowmade is developing a co-op RPG called RustHeart, which features a young hero with a sidekick robot set to explore an alien multiverse. And last but not least, Hazelight Studios, which did not reveal their next game. They are working on something and EA did say that the new title will have “a fresh take on the challenges of working together.”

That’s it from EA’s corner and next up will be Microsoft which is said to have a lot to reveal at E3 2019.
