Dead by Daylight is getting The Ring Chapter in March 2022

Behaviour Interactive just announced that their asymmetric survival horror Dead by Daylight will have a The Ring Chapter, a crossover between the iconic horror series that originated in Japan. The new Chapter is set to launch in March 2022.

Titled the Ringu Chapter, this crossover will be based on the original story as the series first began as a novel written by Koji Suzuki. The first book was published in 1991 and as it’s popularity grew a Japanese film adaptation was released in 1998, which soon after inspired a western adaptation of the horror film.

With the Dead by Daylight Chapter basing it’s collaboration on the original, the killer will likely be Sadako Yamamura, the creepy white lady that materializes through a television to murder those who has watched a paticular cassette tape after seven days. In the teaser, they didn’t exactly announce Sadako to be the killer as the iconic Ring well was the only thing that was revealed in the video.

Dead by Daylight’s game director Mathieu Cote sounded ecstatic to work on content based on the popular horror franchise.

“The importance of the Ringu  franchise in Japan, and its influence on culture around the world are undeniable. To be given the opportunity to dive into that legendary story as we bring this creation into Dead by Daylight is an immense honor,” says Cote in a press release.

The last licensed Chapter released for Dead by Daylight was the Hellraiser Chapter back in September 7, 2021. It was a solo release as the Chapter only featured the Cenobite killer, which is the iconic character Pinhead from the movie horror series.

The Ringu (The Ring) Chapter has no exact release date but it will be 23th Chapter set for March. Dead by Daylight is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. Just recently, the game launched on Epic Game Store.
