The Last of Us Part 1 still features locked safes found in the game and you’ll need a code combination to unlock and loot all the goodies inside. The locations and codes needed for each safe remain the same in the remake, but just in case you need a refresher, here’s a quick guide for each one.

All safe combination codes and safe locations in the Last of Us Part 1

I’ve included the locations of where you can find each code combination in case you want to pick up the collectible yourself as you can just go straight to the safes mentioned below and just input the codes. It’s not required to find the collectible.

Safe found in the Outskirts level in The Last of Us Part 1

The Outskirts Subway Safe

Code combination location

The first safe you’ll encounter is in the underground square filled clickers with shops, Joel, Tess, and Ellie. Navigate through the dark area safely and head to the left-hand side of the square and enter a store. Go behind the counter to find the combination code for the safe, which is 03 - 43 - 78.

Safe Location

The safe can be found on the opposite side from where you are after getting the code, which is also in a store. You’ll encounter a sleeping infected in the store, deal with it and input the code to unlock it. Inside you’ll find 50 parts.

Safe found in Bill's Town in The Last of Us Part 1

Bill’s Town Safe

This safe can be found at the start if Bill’s Town, the moment you boost Ellie over a locked fence to unlock it.

Code combination location

The moment you go past the fence gate, head right to the main road and keep going straight past the RV to a barricade blocking the road. You’ll notice a shiny collectible called “Note for Bob” stuck on the barricade’s barbed wire. Pick it up, and you have the code combination for this area’s safe, which is 05 - 17 - 21.

Safe Location

From where you got the collectible with the code, backtrack to the start of the main street. As you head back you’ll notice the safe on your left side near a pickup truck. Unlock it and you’ll earn 50 parts, 5 supplements, and some Hunting Rifle ammo.

Safe found in the Pittsburgh hotel lobby area in The Last of Us Part 1

Pittsburgh Hotel Lobby Safe

This safe is found in the flooded hotel in the Pittsburgh level after you help Ellie go past the water using a floating palette.

Code combination location

When you enter the lobby of the hotel, find a ladder located at the left side of the area. You’ll need to use the ladder on a ruined staircase to climb up. Going left is where you need to go to progress, but going right will lead you to the safe’s combination.

Once you head right, you’ll find a wreckage with a small pathway on the left where you can slide through. Once you’re through, look for a collectible named “Note to Staff” in that area which is found in an open suitcase. The safe code combination is 22 - 10 - 56.

Safe Location

The safe is just in the lobby. So backtrack down the ladder and head to the reception desk, go behind the desk and you’ll find a small room with the safe. Unlock it and you’ll find 50 parts, revolver ammo, an explosive material for crafting, and best of all, a Training Manual, which makes all your Shivs more durable.

Safe found in the Suburbs level in The Last of Us Part 1

Suburbs House Safe

The last safe can be found right after you escape the sewers with Henry and Sam, the point where the two groups are going through an abandoned neighborhood. This is also before the encounter with the sniper.

Code combination location

Head all the way to the end of the neighberhood, when you hit the icecream truck and scared away two dogs. Enter the building to your left. Head to the top floor of the house and find a combination by a computer desk. The code combination for this safe is written in a matchbook collectible. The combination is 08 - 21 - 36

Safe Location

The safe is on the first floor of the same house you found the code combination. The safe is in one of the bedrooms in a closet. When you unlock it, you’ll find 10 supplements, 50 parts, and shotgun ammo.
