5 Million Players Played Knockout City Since Launch

EA has announced that their online multiplayer Knockout City have attracted 5 million players to sign up and play the quirky dodgeball game. A crazy feat considering it’s only been weeks since developer Velan Studios launched Knockout City back in May.

EA made the announcement of reaching the 5 million mark across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

It’s a great start for the online game but it also helped that Knockout City launched with a free trial that lasted for 10 days and is available to subscribers of EA Play and Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass Ultimate service since day 1. They even made it more accessible just recently as the online game now has a free trial that lets any player play the game up to level 25, so those still wondering if it’s worth the purchase can play to their hearts content but only progress at a certain point.

Reviews were fairly good for Knockout City as well as the Metacritic score for all platforms of the game are floating in the 80 mark while in OpenCritic the average score was at 81 with a recommended rate of 69%.

The approach is rather interesting since putting this online-only game on EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate then offering free trials gives Knockout City a good head start in finding it’s community. Only time will tell if they can maintain player interest to keep concurrent player count up.

Knockout City is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It will cost $20 (~PHP 1,000) to play the game past level 25.
