E3 2013: Nintendo 3DS Developer Direct - Super Smash Bros.

nintendo_developer_direct_smash_brosThe game director for the Super Smash Bros. series, Masahiro Sakurai, gives us a more in-depth look at the new upcoming Super Smash Bros. Game for the 3DS and Wii U. We get a better a better look at both versions of the game as well as the changes in the new game both visually and gameplay wise. Some older characters have updated looks and new moves to set this game appart from previous entries.

Sakurai also talks a bit about some of the new characters such as The Villager, Mega Man and the Wii Fit Trainer.

A bit of good news from this is the confirmation that both the 3DS and Wii U will have the same roster of characters but will have a few unique stages depending on which version you get. Like the 3DS will have more handheld themed stages and the Wii U will have more home console theme stages.

E3 2013: WiiFit Lady Joins Super Smash Bros.

wiifit_lady_smash_bros If you thought the inclusion of Mega Man in the next Super Smash Bros. was crazy. Wait till you see this one.

Mega Man being in the new Super Smash Bros. is super awesome but if you've followed SSB news from even back in the day, you'd know that Mega Man could have potentially made it in Super Smash Bros. Meleealong with Snake and Sonic. Snake and Sonic didn't make it due to time constraints but Mega Man had a different reason. Inafune said that he would have been glad to include Mega Man in Melee but only if Nintendo approached Capcom about it. In Snake and Sonic's case it was the opposite as Kojima was the one who approached Nintendo and SEGA was down for putting Sonic in there. In short seeing Mega Man in the new Smash Bros. is awesome but is something that we've been expecting for a long time now.

On to the real reason for this post. Nintendo is getting a bit crazy now with their games which I like and this new character for Smash Bros. is super crazy. It's the WiiFit lady. Yeah, no words can express whatever it is that we're all feeling right now.

E3 2013: The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Trailer

LoZ_Link_Between_Worlds_01 We finally get a real title for the new Legend of Zelda game on the 3DS. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

Set to take place in the same world as The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, I like how they went with a similar title, Link being a link to something. With the title being "Between Worlds". it's safe to assume that the worlds are the normal game world and the wall painting world and Link is the link between them since he can travel to both world freely. As expected, the whole wall painting mechanic will be used to traverse areas around the world and solve puzzles in dungeons. Your typical Zelda fare.

A Link to the Past was the very first Zelda game that I really played. Technically the first one I played was the very first The Legend of Zelda on the NES but I really got into A Link to the Past when I borrowed a friend's copy on the GBA. And seeing that world in full 3D is just amazing. The top down view and with more emphasis on vertical travel is perfect for the 3DS' 3D slider. A lot of A Link to the Past items also make a return, such as the hammer (which is now orange) and fire rod. I also like how they gave Link his more classic colors such as the gold trim around his hat and the brown undershirt.

The dark triforce symbol on the title screen would lead me to believe that we might also see the return of the Dark World. The title also doesn't specify exactly how many worlds Link will be able to travel to and I wouldn't be surprised if the Dark World was like a surprise twist or something or that notion.

If you've been waiting for a reason to pick up a 3DS, this looks about as good a reason as any. Oh and Project x Zone is also a pretty good reason.

E3 2013: Super Smash Bros 3DS and Wii U

super smash bros 3ds wiiuJust like they said, a new Super Smash Bros. game has been revealed for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.

At first glance it looks pretty much the same as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, graphics wise, if not cleaner. I expected the 3DS graphics to look a little better but if the gameplay is equally awesome then I won't be complaining.

Enough about the formalities. Aside from the announcement of a new Super Smash Bros. itself, the next most important detail about this announcement are the new characters. The Villager from Animal Crossing is now a playable character. So that's cool.

Psyche! A new guest character has been revealed for the new Super Smash Bros. and that character is the blue super fighting robot, Mega Man! Seriously, I shouted out loud here in my apartment that I think even the neighbors freaked out a little. My favorite video game character in the new installment of my favorite video game series. I'm just so happy right now.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U is set to come out in 2014 which is perfect since all my money will probably go to new video games or possibly a PS4 this holiday season. Maybe even both.
