Xbox Series version of Warhammer 40K: Darktide and its seasonal content delayed

Developer Fatshark announced that the Xbox Series X|S version of their latest game Warhammer 40K: Darktide will be delayed together with the planned seasonal content for the game. Their focus for now ill be addressing the various player feedback, primarily the issues revolving the lack of crafting and progression.

Here’s the full announcement by the developers:

We take enormous pride in our ability at Fatshark to deliver a game that millions can enjoy. This was what we set out to do with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide—to create a highly engaging and stable game with a level of depth that keeps you playing for weeks, not hours.

We fell short of meeting those expectations.

Over the next few months, our sole focus is to address the feedback that many of you have. In particular, we will focus on delivering a complete crafting system, a more rewarding progression loop, and continue to work on game stability and performance optimization.

This also means that we will delay our seasonal content rollout and the Xbox Series X|S launch. We will also suspend the upcoming releases of premium cosmetics. We just couldn’t continue down this path, knowing that we have not addressed many feedback areas in the game today.

Thank you for playing and providing feedback. We really appreciate it. It has and will continue to help shape the game we love.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide released back in November and is a fairly good 4-player PvE co-op shooter set in the Warhammer 40K universe. Just like their previous game, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, players band together to complete various missions, level up, and improve their chosen character by earning new gear and unlocking new perks.

It’s a fun twist in the Left4Dead formula as Darktide is a fun game when you are in the missions itself. The issues stem outside, where progression and crafting is nowhere near as in-depth as when Vermintide 2 first released.

Darktide released with one function of its crafting system available, as other ways to improve your gear – rerolling stats, switching perks, etc – where not available and was promised to be implemented sometime in December 2022. So far, the ability to upgrade an item’s rarity and refining an item (replace an item’s perk) are only available.. Two more are planned to be available – Consecrate and Bless, but no timetable is given so far.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide is currently available on PC Game Pass and Steam.
