The Best Reveals During Ubisoft Forward September 2022

Ubisoft’s latest Ubisoft Forward livestream event featured a variety of reveals and announcements from the company. The show gave us a look at Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Skull and Bones, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, a good look at the future of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, and more. Here’s a quick rundown of what was shown.

You can watch the full presentation here or go through a quick rundown of the best reveals of this Ubisoft Forward.

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

The crazy mix of Nintendo’s Mario franchise and Ubisoft’s Rabbids franchise will forever be one of the weirdest collaborations in recent generations but here we are now two games in and looking promising as a turned-based video game. Ubisoft started the presentation with a detailed gameplay showcase of one of the levels in Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope launching this October. It’s a battle against a worm on a speeding train and it highlights how strategic decisions on who to bring to a specific encounter can greatly affect your performance on a level.

Skull and Bones ship customization

Ubisoft gives us another look at the upcoming ship-to-ship pirate game by Ubisoft Singapore, and this look focuses on how you can customize your pirate ship. From weaponry to how your ship will look. Ubisoft also mentioned that if you’re not keen on going against other players in your game, you can turn off PvP anytime to make it a solo experience. Crossplay was also mentioned between all of the game’s platforms.

Riders’ Republic next season and free play

Last year’s Riders’ Republic was given a small spotlight highlighting the game’s upcoming Season 4 content and the BMX add-on. I still consider this one of the best surprises of 2021 for it simply being a fresh open world playground to play and do crazy stuff in select extreme sports. The game is currently free to play for a limited time until September 16 for PlayStation and PC platforms, and September 13 for Xbox platforms.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 gets more content support

Ubisoft Massive is still at it in providing new content for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. The studio announced that Division 2 is getting two major updates this year – Season 10: Price Power launching on September 13 and ending 2022 with Season 11, which will add a new PvE game mode for the RPG looter shooter.

They also confirmed that The Division 2 will continue to have support with Year 5 of content planned for 2023.

Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland teased again but not fully shown

Red Storm Entertainment labels Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland as a free-to-play survival action shooter. We were given a glimpse of the game but not actual gameplay, not giving us a clear picture of what they are developing, at least officially. The team did mention upcoming tests for the game and registrations for those events are now available

Mobile game Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence

Lastly, Ubisoft closes The Division section of the show with Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence, a mobile game that looks to bring the core gameplay seen in the original mainline The Division titles to phones. It features its own campaign, and Dark Zones, a PvE mode where players can go in, get what they can, and hopefully extract safely and not get taken down by another player. A closed beta test is planned to hit this Fall.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Mobile closed beta test starting Monday

Mobile talk doesn’t end with Resurgence as we get another look at Rainbow Six Mobile. Simply Rainbow Six: Siege but on your phone. Closed Beta for the game starts on September 12 but only for Android users as there’s no word on the iOS version of the game for a closed beta. The closed beta will feature three maps – Bank, Border, and Clubhouse.

The closed beta will be available in select regions – USA, Brazil, Canada, Philippines, Mexico, Singapore, and India.

Netflix partnership

Ubisoft announced a partnership with Netflix, bringing Valiant Hearts 2, Mighty Quest, and a mobile Assassin’s Creed game for Netflix members through their mobile app. There’s also a live-action Assassin’s Creed series coming to the platform. And yes, Netflix does have a video game section where you can play games on offer.

Ubisoft+ free one month trial starts now

Ubisoft then mentions Ubisoft+ their version of Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, where you have access to Ubisoft’s library of games for a monthly subscription. Starting now until October 10, players can try the service for free.

Trackmania coming to consoles

The famous Trackmania is finally hitting consoles and streaming platforms early next year and will feature cross-play across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Stadia, and Luna. It will come out as a free-to-play title with no microtransactions but mentions two premier tiers for players to purchase. The game will have a seasonal update every three months with new events and content.

Rocksmith+

Rocksmith+ was revealed and is live right now for the price of $8.33 a month, giving you access to the library of songs and unlimited access to guitar lessons to improve your skills with a guitar. There will be new songs added to the service every month and can be accessed through your mobile, so you can practice or jam anywhere. Pretty neat but only available in select countries, it seems.

Just Dance 2023 Edition

It’s not a Ubisoft showcase without a glimpse at the next iteration of Just Dance. The event gave us a look at the game’s new UI, the game’s wide selection of songs to dance to, and a multiplayer mode where you can dance with multiple players from different dance floors online.

A lengthy Assassin’s Creed Showcase

To think, it's been 15 years since Altair introduced us to the world of Assassin’s Creed. This Ubisoft Forward ends with a lengthy showcase of everything Assassin’s Creed as they reveal more details of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and announce two other games in the works for the franchise.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage launches next year and is Ubisoft’s way of going back to the game’s roots, being more about the adventure and stealth as an assassin, where you play as a young Basim (first introduced in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla) roaming the streets of Baghdad.

Assassin’s Creed Documentary

Ubisoft then announced a documentary focused on the Assassin’s Creed franchise and can be viewed right now through Ubisoft’s YouTube channel, but is rather short as it’s only around 11-minutes long.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Last Chapter

With Mirage on the horizon, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is closing Eivor’s story with The Last Chapter free quest arc that will tie in the end of his/her journey. No release date was given.

Multiple Assassin’s Creed titles in the works

Valhalla is wrapping up, then we have Mirage for next year. Ubi then gives us a really short glimpse of the future of the series with three new Assassin Creed titles currently in development.

  • Assassin’s Creed codename Jade is a mobile game set in Ancient China 215 BCE and features the same open world you’d expect from the series but with the option to create your very own character.

  • Assassin’s Creed codename Red is a new title from the team responsible for Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey as this game is set in feudal Japan. A short tease as we see the assumed protagonist wield a ninja blade and an assassin’s hidden blade. This will be the next big flagship title for the franchise after Mirage.

  • They then teased another Assassin’s Creed project with the codename Hexe with a short teaser video that is said to contain secrets for ourselves to uncover.

  • Assassin’s Creed Infinity was also mentioned but described as a hub for future titles of the franchise. Multiplayer was mentioned but it wasn’t really clear in Infinity’s role.
