New Dawn delivers a shallow exploration of its premise and is more interested in the sheer anarchic fun of a fully refined playground of carnage. That’s fine for a game that continues to indulge in the franchise’s weirdest excesses while fine tuning its formula for maximum fun.

You might be free from the capitalist rat race in Hope County, Montana, but that doesn't mean money doesn't matter. 

While it never manages to slake the thirst for narrative depth promised in its marketing, Far Cry 5 still provides an open world that is ultimately the most satisfying that Ubisoft has delivered to date.
