Rainbow Six: Siege Players Gets A Taste of Rainbow Six Extraction Through A Limited Event

Rainbow Six Siege’s next limited event called Containment just went live and is a three-weeks long event that features a new game mode inspired by the upcoming 3-player co-op shooter Rainbow Six Siege Extraction that’s launching next year. It will run from August 3 until August 24, and with it comes a unique collection of cosmetics that players can obtain during the event.

In the new game mode called Nest Destruction, players will play a twisted version of the map Consulate where the Chimera parasite has infected the area and some R6 operators. The attacking operators are tasked to break the building and take out two Chimera eggs to win the round, while the defenders are simply tasked to defend the eggs. The catch? Defenders are the infected - no guns equipped, high health, the ability to charge, and a melee attack that can down any opposing player. Attackers, on the other hand, are your normal operators with the usual gadgets and weapons available in their respective loadouts.

I played a few matches of the new event and it felt like a sci-fi horror flick. As one of the attackers, there’s that sense as you can hear the infected players roaming around the map, screeching and making all the noise. As a Defender, I felt like i’m on a hunt, waiting in a corner to pounce at any player entering the building.

Like any limited event before Containment, it’s a good distraction for the usual game modes found in R6 and is a reminder that a co-op survival shooter set in the Siege world is coming next year.

The Containment event will feature 33 unique cosmetic items for R6 operators IQ, Ace, Blackbeard, Amaru, and Zero for the attacking side, and Aruni, Jager, Kaid, Mira and Warden for Defenders. These cosmetics can be obtained through Containment Packs that will cost 300 R6 Credits or through the use of the in-game currency Renown for 12,500. Opening Containment packs will not contain duplicates, meaning you’ll simply need 33 packs to get the full collection.

During the event, Rainbow Six Siege will be hosting a free weekend starting on August 13 to August 15, giving players a chance to try out the game for free for a limited time. During the free weekend, Battle Points earned will be doubled, giving those that own the game something to look forward to during that weekend.

Rainbow Six Extraction, is a 3-player co-op survival shooter set in the world of Siege where team Rainbow is tasked to do various missions to handle the parasite threat affecting the world. It was originally scheduled to launch this September but was moved and is now aiming for a January 2022 launch.
