Pets Can’t Get Enough of Watching People Play Stray

The highly anticipated adventure game Stray by BlueTwelve Studios has been out for a few days now and players can’t get enough of their pets' reaction as they play the game. Be it a cat or a dog, their reaction when watching the feline protagonist moving around on the TV doing cat things is entertaining to watch that their humans are posting it on social media.

It’s quite entertaining to see pet cats or dogs just stare in awe as they see a cat roam around, meowing all over the place. Some position themselves beside the TV and attempt to touch the cat on the screen, some attempt to touch the cat so violently that scratching marks on their TVs is a reasonable concern.

It has come to a point that there’s now a dedicated Twitter account called CatsWatchStray sharing posts from players showing their pet’s reactions to Stray.

I’ve been playing Stray and it’s been a treat as the environment design and tone has this sense of mystery to it that you’re left itching to unravel its secrets. I'm also appreciating the unnecessary actions one can do in this game, like  go on top of a stack of books and fall, sleep in a corner, play with a ball, or attempt to dig through a carpet until you’re bored of it. Is there a reason for doing them? For the most part no, it’s just cat things.

This is publisher Annapurna Interactive’s biggest PC launch title by far as according to SteamDB, Stray hit an all-time peak of 62,963 concurrent players on the Steam platform, rather impressive for an indie title. The second biggest for the publisher was Twelve Minutes, which was only 8,021 at launch, followed by Outer Wilds at 7,936. Stray is also available for all PS5 owners subscribed to the New PlayStation Plus Extra tier on day one.

For those unaware, Stray is a third-person cat adventure game that follows a stray cat that gets lost in a city populated by robots.
