God Of War Sequel Delayed To 2022, Now Also Coming To PS4

The follow up to 2018’s God of War from Santa Monica Studios has been delayed to 2022 and it looks like it will also be available on the PS4 as well.

The new release window to 2022 was confirmed by the studio’s official Twitter account, and the main reason is to have a steady balance of delivering what is expected from the team while remaining safe during these tough times.

Alongside the announcement of the delay, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed in a PlayStation Blog interview with head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst that the God of War sequel will also be available on the PS4.

“Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.”

The God of War sequel was teased back in September 2020 during the PS5 games showcase, confirming that it will be available on the PS5 and has been silent soon after. This is the only time the PS4 was tied to the sequel.
