Gears of War E-Day Releasing on October 6 as an Xbox Console Exclusive
The 2026 Xbox Games Showcase starts with new gameplay footage of Gears of War E-Day, and it comes with a release date of October 6. But the real shocker is that this new Gears title will be an Xbox console exclusive.
It's a bit shocking and somewhat confusing to fans, as many expected Gears of War E-Day to go multiplatform, especially with many first-party titles being released on other platforms recently. But it looks like Xbox leadership had a change of heart when it comes to exclusivity, and with this move, it seems they want to put more weight on their consoles once again, which is a notable shift as they've been steering their first-party titles in a different direction.
It's a weird flip-flop situation, but I guess it's to be expected when you have new people calling the shots. And honestly, this makes me think they're serious about turning things around on the hardware side, especially since they do plan to release another next-generation console in the future.
Gears of War E-Day Open Beta
During the Gears of War E-Day Direct, The Coalition also revealed that a multiplayer open beta will be available later this Summer. Those who pre-order Gears of War E-Day, and Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers will get early access to the open beta from August 6 - 10.
