This week, Dead by Daylight’s Shrine of Secrets perk offering is released alongside the PTD of the new End of Transmission Chapter. Perks to consider are Background Player, Adrenaline, Knock Out, and Rancor. Here’s a quick detailed rundown of each perk from May 24 - May 30, 2023.

Dead by Daylight Shrine of Secrets perks for May 24 - May 30, 2023

This section in the in-game store of Dead by Daylight allows players to unlock perks from Survivors or Killers still unavailable for them, or have not yet earned the highest tier.

Choose carefully if you don’t have many shards available during this time as 2,000 shards are hard to earn, especially for new players from either side.

Killer Perks

Knock Out (The Cannibal) - Putting a Survivor into the Dying State with a basic attack blocks their aura from being revealed to any other Survivor who is farther than 32/24/16 meters away from them.

The dying survivor also receives 15 seconds of Blindness, a -50% crawling speed, and a -25% recovery speed.

Rancor (The Spirit) - Each time a Generator is completed, you get to see the aura of your Obsession for 5/4/3 seconds. All other Survivior’s location is revealed to you for 3 seconds.

When the Exit games are powered, you are granted the ability to kill your obsession. The obsession will also be affected by a permanent Exposed effect.

Survivor Perks

Background Player (Renato Lyra) - When another Survivor is picked up, this perk activates for the next 10 seconds.

When you start running, break into a sprint at 150% of your normal running movement speed for 4 seconds.

Adrenaline (Meg Thomas) - Once Survivors activate the Exit Gates (repair five Generators), Adrenaline activates, instantly recovering one health state and run 150% faster than normal run speeds for 5 seconds.

Adrenaline will ignore the Exhausted effect and will give you the Exhausted effect again for 60/50/40 seconds.

Because of this perk active, you get benefits such as not leaving pools of blood, a reduction of making noise while injured by 25/50/75%, a recovery speed increased by 15/20/25%, and the ability to fully recover from the dying state on your own.

Which perks are worth getting this week?

Survivors, they have two strong perks that have a specific role to play. Background Player is a great tool to get yourself into a position to save the Survivor that was just picked up by the Killer. The perk activates once the pickup animation starts, so you have a better opportunity at a Flashlight save. The increased movement speed also gives you a chance to run to the nearest hook for sabotage play.

Adrenaline needs no introduction as it’s been in the game since the start and to this day is a viable perk to bring to a Trial. The best time this perk will activate is when you are in the dying state or you are currently in the injured state with the Killer chasing you. It’s demoralizing when this perk activates in front of you as a Killer, but it’s hard to time it, unless you have a friend or two to coordinate with.

The best offer for Killer this week is Knock Out, a perk that severely disrupts downtime with Survivors and highly promotes slugging play. If used correctly, you will have at least two Survivors not doing the objective as one is on the floor slowly bleeding out, and we have another spending precious minutes looking where the downed player is on the map. It’s a fun perk to focus your whole build around.

Lastly, Rancor is yet another information perk that is one of the weakest of the bunch. There are better perks out there that let you know where Survivors are while giving you a chance at defending the Generator they are working on. It is indeed a plus that you get to quickly kill the Obsession, instantly making endgame one less Survivor to worry about leaving.

This is the week the new sci-fi-themed End of Transmission Chapter enters the Dead by Daylight public test build, allowing players to play with the new Killer Singularity and the Survivor named Gabriel Soma.
