Clockwork Revolution Coming in 2027, Now an Xbox Console Exclusive

Clockwork Revolution gameplay reveal from the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase.

Developer InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution is again a ways away, now set for a 2027 release, and as an Xbox console exclusive.

For those unfamiliar, here’s a synopsis of the game:

Wield the power of an incredible device to travel back in time, changing the past and rewriting the future of the city you call home: the vibrant steampunk metropolis of Avalon.

In this immersive RPG, you’ll step into the shoes of Morgan Vanette, a fully customizable player-character and member of the Rotten Row Hooligans. Travel between past and present as you battle the ruthless Lady Ironwood, who has been manipulating time to keep the working class struggling while amassing immense wealth and power.

Your interactions and choices will have a butterfly effect on the deep, narrative-driven world, shaping characters and events in unexpected ways.

With the power of time in your hands, how will you fight your way through Avalon’s history and redefine its future?

Many were banking on Clockwork Revolution to carry the rest of 2026 once Fable was pushed to next year, but it looks like Gears of War: E-Day will have to do the heavy lifting this year.

This is the second Xbox console exclusive announced at the showcase, after Gears of War: E-Day. Not everything is getting the exclusive treatment, though, since Fable is still coming to multiple platforms on February 23, 2027, and Halo: Campaign Evolved is launching on PS5, Xbox, and PC on July 28. It's a confusing mixed message: the same showcase that doubles down on exclusivity also markets Halo, one of Xbox's most iconic franchises, coming to PS5 for the first time ever.

That said, it does make some sense when you consider that both Halo: Campaign Evolved and the new Fable were confirmed as multiplatform titles long before this showcase, whereas Gears of War: E-Day never had that confirmation. So the exclusivity move with Clockwork Revolution and E-Day may be less of a flip-flop and more of a line being drawn going forward.
