New on PC Game Pass – June Highlights

June marks the release of all the Wave 2 titles that hit PC Game Pass during the second half of May 2025. This batch includes ten new games, with a few major heavy hitters—including one I considered my Game of the Year in 2024.

Metaphor: ReFantazio

Atlus’ latest JRPG surprised fans and newcomers alike with its Persona-inspired, high-fantasy setting, a gripping story, a likable cast of characters, and a turn-based combat system I actually prefer over Persona’s. Expect to spend over 100 hours here—and if you’re down for that kind of commitment, you won’t regret it.

Doom: The Dark Ages

Id Software’s latest entry in the Doom reboot series is another unique twist that will make any Doom fan happy. As much as it’s now all about being up close and personal and taking the hits, it’s still the same fast-paced, chaotic doom you know.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered

2025’s worst-kept secret was shadow-dropped the same day it was announced back in April. Oblivion Remastered updates the classic with a stunning visual overhaul and modern quality-of-life improvements while staying true to its roots. A must-play for longtime Elder Scrolls fans and newcomers to Cyrodiil alike.

Towerborne

If you're craving a side-scrolling brawler, Towerborne might hit the spot. It’s still in early access, but there’s enough content to enjoy. The online matchmaking lets you team up with others as you level different classes, collect gear, and tackle increasingly tough encounters. I had a blast—it gave me strong Castle Crashers vibes.

Clair Obscure: Expedition 33

The talk of the town. Yes, this was released day one in Game Pass and if you love turn-based RPGs, this is a must-try. This is easily my current Game of the Year pick for 2025, and quite honestly it found a place in my all-time list. This will shock you in many ways that by the end of it you can’t help but wonder how such a game was created.

Editor’s Picks – Must-Play & Recently Updated Games

Sea of Stars

If you enjoyed Clair Obscure, Sea of Stars offers another turn-based gem with its own spin on reactive combat that keeps each battle fresh. It’s also a great time to jump in—developer Sabotage Studio recently released a free DLC years in the making, as a thank-you to fans.

Warhammer 40K: Darktide

Following the 2025 Warhammer Skulls digital event, Darktide is getting renewed attention with a major update and a paid DLC (Arbites, out June 23). Compared to its rocky launch, the game is now in excellent shape, possibly even rivaling Vermintide 2 as a go-to co-op shooter.

Hunt: Showdown 1896

Crytek’s PvPvE shooter is still going strong and is now on PC Game Pass. This remains one of the most unique online shooter experiences thanks to its distinct arsenal, top-tier audio design, and nail-biting tension. Not for the faint of heart—but definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of tactical shooters.

33 Immortals

I tried this one last week and came away impressed. While still in early access, this online roguelike action RPG gives Hades vibes, with a twist. Up to 33 players can join forces, fighting through waves of enemies and dungeons before facing a massive boss at the end of each session.

Star Wars Battlefront II

No major updates here, but thanks to the hype from Andor Season 2’s conclusion, there’s been a resurgence in online players. Despite its rocky launch, Battlefront II has grown into a solid Star Wars shooter—now’s the perfect time to jump in before the dip in players again.

The Division 2

Six years in, The Division 2 continues to get support. Massive Entertainment recently released a surprise DLC, Battle for Brooklyn, adding a new location and content. Love it or hate it, the game has found its community and continues to evolve.

Blue Prince

Released in April, this puzzle game is a hidden gem that truly shines once you experience it for yourself. You play as the heir to a mysterious mansion with a shifting layout that resets each day. Each run uncovers more about the house—and the mystery tied to your inheritance.

Balatro

These titles may have slipped under the radar or quietly sat in the Game Pass library, overshadowed by newer releases. If you missed them, or just need a reminder, they’re absolutely worth your time.

Editor’s Picks – Overlooked Gems and Games You Forgot You Loved

These titles either never got the spotlight they deserved or have been quietly sitting in the Game Pass library, outshone by newer releases. Whether you missed them entirely or just need a reminder of how good they are, these picks are well worth revisiting.

Frostpunk 1 & 2

This survival city-builder still lives rent-free on my hard drive. Frostpunk combines strategy and storytelling with brutally cold stakes. The sequel expands everything the first game introduced, making it the perfect pair for strategy fans.

Sifu

Three years since release, Sifu still holds up. This beat ‘em up features a unique aging mechanic: every time you fall in combat, you get older, but also stronger and wiser. Its fluid martial arts combat and 80s action film aesthetic make it a must-play.

StarCraft 2 Campaign Collection

Real-time strategy games may be rare these days, but StarCraft 2 remains a gold standard. With all three campaigns—Terran, Zerg, and Protoss—now on PC Game Pass thanks to Microsoft's acquisition of Activision, it’s the perfect time to dive into this genre classic.

Aliens: Dark Descent

Think real-time XCOM, but set in the Alien universe. Dark Descent puts you in command of a Marine squad tasked with clearing Xeno-infested areas as they find ways to leave the planet they are stranded in. When you're spotted, it’s time to set turrets, fortify positions, and survive the onslaught. A tense, smart strategy game worth your attention.
