Nintendo Switch now supports bluetooth audio

Nintendo has released a new system update for the Nintendo Switch that now adds bluetooth audio support. Believe it, you can now pair any wireless bluetooth headset or headphone with your Switch.

In a Nintendo Support post, your Nintendo Switch will only be limited to using only two wireless controllers when using a bluetooth audio device. You can have only one bluetooth audio active at a time but the system can remember up to 10 devices.

Bluetooth microphones will also not work, so that’s a bummer as you’ll have to find other means of communication for online play.

This is a pretty big deal for many, including myself as I’ve always hoped the Nintendo Switch would provide bluetooth audio support because it’s just a more convenient way when using devices on the go.It’s one of the most sought out feature and it’s weird that Nintendo took this long to provide such a feature to a console that can be used outside your home.

How to pair your bluetooth device with your Nintendo Switch

The process is pretty simple and is just like how you would pair your bluetooth audio device on another system or hardware. Once you update your Nintendo Switch to the latest software version, head to ‘System Settings’ then look for ‘Bluetooth Audio’ in the list of options. Press the ‘Pair Device’ to start searching for the nearest bluetooth device currently turned on. Once you find the right one, just press A and you should be good to go.

The feature is available for both the regular Switch and the Nintendo Switch Lite. But with bluetooth audio devices now a common device sold everywhere by different brands, it’s up in the air if the Switch can easily detect every wireless audio device out in the market. So give it a go and hopefully you won’t have much trouble.

According to the changelog, the update also makes wired internet connection stay online even in sleep mode, giving the system the ability to download new updates while asleep. This will be useful to those that use a LAN adaptor on their Switch Dock or the new Nintendo Switch OLED dock coming this year.
