Evo 2017 Was Filled With Big Announcements

Evo is the biggest fighting game competition in the world, with everybody that loves fighting games simply tuned in to watch the best players of their respective games to compete and see who comes on top. So, it's only natural to have develops come over and do big announcements on the main stage directly to their target market.

In case you missed it, here are the big reveals during Evo 2017.

Geese Howard, A New Challenger!

Geese Howard from Fatal Fury!? Yes, he will be a DLC character coming at the end of the year and with Namco Bandai's impressive implementation of Street Fighter's Akuma into the Tekken world, it's going to be a treat to see how well they've added in Geese Howard's known move set because everything seems to be on point based on the trailer.

The Biggest Character To Join Street Fighter V

This is a crazy announcement coming from Capcom. Season 2's roster is filled with characters that have never been in a Street Fighter game before and they continue that trend with the announcement of Abigail from Final Fight. He's the biggest character in Street Fighter V so far and is twice the size of Ed, the last character that was added into the game. His hitbox is questionable at best but it's good to see new characters coming in, keeping the pool of characters diverse. Abigail will be available on July 25.

Jedah Makes A Subtle Debut

Surprise! What people thought was a simple Marvel vs Capcom Infinite exhibition match between Filipino Champ and ComboFiend turned into a character reveal in the most subtle way. After one match between the two, ComboFiend quickly goes to the Main Menu and enters the character select screen. As he picks his first character, he slowly moves to a new addition in the roster - Jedah from the Darkstalkers franchise. The commentators go wild and we see Jedah in action and Capcom seems to have translated the character well for Infinite. That's one way to introduce a new character to the fans. Marvel vs Capcom Infinite will be out on September 19.

No Longer An April Fools Joke

During this year's April Fools, the developers responsible for the Street Fighter EX series released an April Fools trailer for an upcoming fighting game. It was confirmed to be a joke but is then made official during the last day of Evo that development is underway for this untitled game. The fighting game is slated for a simultaneous release in North America and Japan on the PlayStation 4.

Arc System Works Is On A Role

Arc System Works is one busy studio. They are currently working on Dragon Ball FighterZ but it looks like they are working on another project, and it's a crossover between three of their games: Persona 4 Arena, RWBY, BlazeBlue, and Under Night In-Birth. All we know so far is that it's going to be a 2v2 fighting game with a tag system and it's planned for a 2018 release.

You Can't Have A Dragon Ball Game Without Him

More from System Arc Works! Bandai Namco, the publisher of Dragon Ball FighterZ, revealed that future Trunks will be a playable character in this crazy 3v3 fighting game. A closed beta was announced and registration is already open for those interested.
