The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake Announced for Switch 2
The June 2026 Nintendo Direct ended on a massive note with the reveal of a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Switch 2, and the bigger shock is that it's coming sometime this year.
There isn't much to go on yet. The teaser doesn’t even hit two minutes, but what it does show is young Link in his house, and more importantly, a glimpse of the visual fidelity Nintendo is targeting for this remake. Beyond that, no further details were shared. More news is on the way.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time originally launched on November 21, 1998 for the Nintendo 64, and it remains one of the most beloved entries in the franchise. For many, it's embedded deep in childhood memory, and for those who played it in their teens at the time, the attachment runs even deeper. It's the kind of game that still earns "one of the greatest of all time" from a lot of people, even in 2026, and honestly, it's hard to argue with that.
