New Tomb Raider Reveal Set for The Game Awards 2025

The Game Awards 2025 is shaping up to be packed with announcements and world premieres as the event inches closer to revealing this year’s winners. One major reveal might be our first look at the “future of Tomb Raider,” as Geoff Keighley hints the next entry in the franchise will make an appearance during the show.

The future of Tomb Raider

Outside of this tease, not much is known about what the team is working on. Since its debut in 1996, Tomb Raider has been a gaming icon for decades, and the last time we saw Lara Croft was in 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider, with the latest from developer Crystal Dynamics being a more grounded, brutal reboot trilogy.

Will they reboot the series again? Very likely. The last time Lara was mentioned publicly was when they revealed what was believed to be her new look (image above). That was years ago, and things could have changed since then, but based on that art, they seemed to be leaning back toward a more classic interpretation of Lara. As for gameplay, the bigger question is whether they’ll go for a more action-heavy approach or stick to the stealth-survival blend that defined the reboot trilogy.

We’ll know soon enough. What matters is that Tomb Raider is finally returning, and whatever they’re preparing should push the franchise back toward the top of the most-anticipated lists.
